Bluh... I came to the conclusion that I am sort of tapped out at the moment.
Ever since Wild Card, maybe a little before, I've just been creating at a breakneck speed, and I think I finally hit the wall, which is rough since I have two or three things still lurking in the docket.
But anyways, I think I'm going to take a break from writing for the moment, at least until I manage to get all of Phostus posted since it's all typed. Maybe those couple of weeks will help sure up my tanks again.

Not to imply that there's ever a "good time" for this, necessarily, but with school starting for a number of us, I suppose it's as good a time as any.

By the way, I'm planning on using Thursday as my "get caught up on stuff" day, so I should be getting to Phostus then!

That'll be a good day for it, though I'm very seriously considering updating Phostus on Thursday too.
We aren't very far in, but nobody has had a chance to start digging into the second part yet it seems.

So, I go into the supply room here in the office to look for some file folders.

At some point between today and the last time I needed Post-It notes, someone parked a big, floor-to-ceiling mirror in the room. It's towards the back, with the mirror part facing away from the door.

Now, because I am being my usual self -- which is to say, completely and hopelessly oblivious to anything which isn't literally in front of my nose -- I completely fail to notice this as I shimmy past said mirror to get to the back of the room. I pick up some file folders, I turn around, and I suddenly find myself inches apart from some other person who I didn't even realize was in the room. (AKA: my reflection.)

I jump out of my skin, I shout out "Jesus!" at the top of my lungs, and I step backwards into a shelf full of office supplies, all of which make a very colorful and noisy mess as they fall to the floor.

As I'm picking everything back up, I get to explain to the endless series of people who poke their heads in to find out what caused the ruckus that it's just silly old me, literally being scared of my own reflection.

If we needed any further proof that I am the world's smoothest operator, there it is.

I think you'll find there's nothing to be ashamed of here, once you've had time to sit down and reflect on this...

Sorry, that was too easy. Let's try this:

"Hey, good-looking! Nice glass!"

No, that's too far away. Hmm. Okay, puns aren't working, let's try for a verse:

"Mirror, mirror, by surprise,
And my shiny, mirrored self,
Your beauty made me drop supplies,
And then my heart from off the shelf."

Yeah, that one'll work...

We now have five different M:EMbers among the top 20 posters on the site.

Wow. I wouldn't have guessed that. I must talk more than I think I do.

Also, on that list, I'm apparently currently at 13. That's...sort of impossibly cool.

In celebration, I will here repost my poem "Thirteen," which appears in the Innistrad Anthology and in Raven's Rhymes. Enjoy!

Thirteen

I just want to say that I have been usurped from my lucky number 13 spot by Tevish...by one post (at the time I write this.)

However, paradoxically, by posting this to tell you all about it, I move into a tie with Tevish, which regains the spot, because my name comes before his alphabetically.

This therefore negates the purpose of this post, which means it shouldn't happen, which means I still would have dropped a spot, which means I would write this post.

I think I've created a time-loop paradox...

:D

[EDIT]: Okay, I guess it didn't work anyway. Rats. For a second there, I thought I was going to wipe out time. Entirely. Forward and backward.

Oh, well.

Have I mentioned in the last 15 minutes how much I love this place?

Because I love this place. :)

Discovering this video is one of the great things that have come from the simpson's marathon.

In other news, rather than adhering to my promise of not working on things, I've decided instead to take the opportunity to go back and do something that I've been promising myself I would get around for a while now.

I'm going to write a Space: the Convergence story.

That guy's giving it away! :)

Is "Space: the Convergence" exactly what I'm assuming it is?

It's a byproduct of What If week from during Planar Chaos's feature week.

So, to try to take some pressure off of Keeper when it comes to the wiki, I'm going to do craft the article for the FtV, but I was wondering how you guys think I should set it up.
Maral's Collection maybe?
Contents of Maral's Vault?
The collected notes of Raleris pertaining to the collected contents of Maral's Vault?

*shrug* I... kinda flubbed the format to this, making it a story like I did.

I wouldn't worry about crafting an article, just drop the info into the wiki along the same lines as the Dominia Cabal artifacts article.

I watched 8 episodes of Mystery, Inc. the other night, finishing off season 1. It continues to pleasantly surprise me with return characters and tongue-in-cheek moments ("None of this would have happened if it weren't for you meddling kids! Thanks!"). Episode 20 especially surprised me with the hint of lesbianism from Velma. Ending the season with the breakup of the gang also surprised me, though it felt like a natural progression from the overarching plot.

That said, I feel the show up to that point, especially in that latter 1/2 to 1/3 of the first season, had some stumbling blocks. It felt like all of a sudden they were trying too hard to appeal to their teenage audience, with Fred's "smartphone" that's still looks like a walkie-talkie, and Velma and Hot-Dog Water supposedly having some great knowledge of computers by being able to set up a web page and steal google images. I also felt like maybe the Fred/Daphne relationship wasn't handled in the best way. It felt, to me, like it was developed in fits and starts instead of a continuous stream.

Also, I had a Jakkard dream last night. I'm not sure if it started as a Jakkard dream or it started as a Wild West dream that I made a Jakkard dream, but it surprised me. Especially since I killed a minotaur.

I'm re-skimming Friends and Killers for archival purposes and noting the fact that Beryl was finally ambushed on Jakkard, where Fisco has had... recent dealings. There's a real tangled web here, isn't there?

He knows too much.

What was Denner's line, again? Some coincidences have actually been found to be coincidental?

Others, of course...

Beryl's rough reception on Jakkard did rebound to Fisco's advantage in a roundabout way. But certainly no one would ever try to manipulate poor Beryl like that.

Would they?

Of course, Jakkard is a rough place. And, with Beryl's luck, it would make sense that she just asked the wrong question to the wrong people.

Although, now that I come to think of it, most people on Jakkard wouldn't know Fisco Vane as Fisco Vane, but as Ol' Smokey.

(Now I'm just confusing myself...)

The ink is not yet dry! We must make... other arrangements in the interrim.

I would say "as long as it doesn't wreck the Archive map", but there's... *checks notes* 7 works already accepted that I haven't even added to the map, soooooooo... Yeah.

Alright, serious answer time:

I never intended to imply that Beryl's ambush on Jakkard was anything other than bad luck. Jakkard just struck me as a seriously dangerous place to be going around asking questions about Fisco. And, of course, poor Beryl didn't know enough to realize that.

That said, if anyone ever wanted to try to leverage this coincidence for other purposes, they'd be free to have fun with it. But, at least in my mind, this was just a case of #multiversehatesberyl.

It could be leveraged, but it could just as easily be Fridge Brilliance that future readers can discover for themselves... (I hope there are future readers of these stories)
