Notch was still involved though. He mostly just pokes his head around and posts things and junk.

Man, Feed the Beast is a lot of fun, but I just can't get the hang of some of the mods. Got a buddy who shares a base with me who does all the machines while I dig the tunnels and rooms though, it's been a blast.

Hey, I'd be more than interested in joining the server, if that's quite all right. Could I ask for the contact info?

I had to stop paying the server for now. Maybe someday I can build a community and have it run itself buuuut I am not up to it right now.

I find Minecraft to be a bigger time-sink than World of Warcraft, so I really had to stop playing, it just took too much of my time when I was playing.

So. Have any of you been able to build Escher's Stairwell in Minecraft? I have been trying, but I can't seem to get the last block to go in right.

Two friends and I are probably going to get together and run a new vanilla server for a year. The new snapshots are getting us excited.

My friends and I simply like doing little tournaments when we get together.

We each take like an hour or so, and build a maze for the other one to solve.
Once, we had our friend visit from New Mexico, and we did a three player version. My maze a single hairpin turn that triggered a length of undergorund dynamite leading to another player's maze (annihilating it completely). I broke the world, but my friends response was priceless!

Me: Hey, I have to leave for work in a few minutes, do my maze first!

*He walks in, steps on the pressure plate, turns around and walks outside*

Him: "Dude your maze sucks, it doesn't work proper..."

*BOOM bang pow kachoo POOF*
*A line of smoke and crumbling earth leads to his maze*
*everyone gets kicked off the server*
* :dropjaw:*

We log back in and finds that his maze is left in shambles, stuff was floating around randomly, rooms were indistinguishable from each other.

Me: Well, I have to go to work. have fun guys!

That was the most memorable. That's always done in creative mode.

not in creative mode: I'm the pit-digger of my group. I dig down. I then use that to build a castle. My friends call me the wildman, I only come to town for food. Otherwise I live in the wilderness building big things. My favorite was a large catacombs.
I went to the tallest mountain near town, and killed myself and marked where the spot was. I dug straight down from there, and that was the entrance to the underground temple.
Then I built a temple as my way to get out. It was one of my favorite castles ever.

I saw a few at one time, but they mainly got populated by pixel art and they weren't very "creative" in the end.

I like to build things and make art. Some people like the rpg or grinding aspect. I like the grinding sometimes but mobs scare me too much.

I enjoy the base building part of it myself, though I tend to do so mostly in survival mode...

Need a little variety.

I occasionally find building fun, but I can't stand going out and actually getting materials.

Minecraft........ it is a time sink for time sink's sake as far as I can tell, where you will eventually end up with "art" that you can be proud of. .... I would just rather go do something else though, and I don't get why it is that fun either. But it's like wondering why Candy Crush is fun. You don't have to "get" it.

It's tough to explain, but Yahtzee does a pretty good job of it. He craps on almost every game out there, but nearly praises Minecraft.
