I wish it was either seven mana or an 8/8 creature, but otherwise, I kinda like it.

Are they trying to complete the Verdant Force cycle? Oddly enough the red and white ones debuted in the commander set...

Does that mean a blue force is on its way? Otherwise crazy card for card advantage in multiplayer.

Appropriate to say, this is way better in Commander than in non-commander multiplayer. With 20 to start, this might eat your life problematically quick. In Commander, a Phyrexian Arena on everybody's turn is just a house.

By the time you get this out, it's ability (should) be worthless.

And given it has no evasion of any kind it (should) never actually hit.

I'd agree, except Commander is traditionally a very slow multiplayer format, so I could see getting him out. Not to mention that he's just a more expensive to cast variant on all the other black "draw 1, lose 1" cards out there, so it's just one more card that can be drawn with the same theme, so it kinda helps, even if its not ideal.

I'm still waiting for the new mana cards so I can actually cast all the cards I would draw off this guy.

Too big to be of any use, for the ability anyways.

I kinda feel this way about most of the Commanders they print for these sets.

... I totally missed the connection to Verdy until now. I thought the red and white were just a mirrored pair, and they were adding to that. How did I miss that?
