RANDOM TANGENT TIME: Skeletonwitch is a pretty awesome thrash band. I remember the day I first saw them live and was blown away by their set, so I acquired their first two albums. Awesome.

Prog music CAN be good. So long as it actually PROGRESSES the song and isnt just "lol 5/4 heavy section next to a 6/8 clean section ARE WE PROG YET?" like Opeth or Dream Theater. Haphazardly, slapped together songs annoy the **** outta me.

Between the Buried and Me is good progressive metal. Magma is a good example of progressive rock.

Man I neeeever liked dream theater, even when I listened to prog like nonstop. Like paint by numbers prog, got no real soul.
