this is one of the few times I get to use expertise from an actual draft format, but Kathari is way better than it looks. capsule is divination for 4. it's not bad but it's a lot of work to go up one card. Kathari looks a bit janky and overcosted but in play he's a high-power evasive threat that's really hard to answer.

I guess I'll take your word for it. I mean, we're 2/3s in Jund, we can still pick up token creatures to sac for regen, and I am partial to flying anyways.

The fact that Capsule can be paid in installments and activated at instant speed puts it light-years ahead of Divination, IMO.

Incurable Ogre

At least it can kill something on defense.

Nothing I really like in the creature department besides Deathgreeter just because he's a 1 drop with some upside. I kind of remember Relic of Progenitus being pretty good due to all the graveyard stuff that goes on in Alara b

What is up with all of this 1 toughness crap?

Bloodpyre Elemental is decent removal that sometimes swings for 4 instead.

Deathgreeter. He's a non-red one-drop with an upside that's free benefit.

Elemental seems a little better than ogre, especially in a slow format.

I don't know the format, but Etherium Sculptor seems like a nice card to speculate on.

Artifacts are Esper, so Black, Blue and White. Two colors we are in. We will probably pick up a few artifacts along the way simply because we are in U/B. I guess it's possible we get use out of it, meanwhile hurting the person who is playing esper. It could also draw some early removal depending on how heavily our opponent thinks we are in Artifacts.

Deathgreeter. He's a non-red one-drop with an upside that's free benefit.

Just curious because it seems you know something I don't; What's the significance of him being non-red? I guess you could be talking about using Agony Warp T2, but that seems a little extreme.

Bloodpyre is good removal.

I'm not convinced we're actually *in* red yet. We have Cruel Ultimatum, but while it's a huge benefit if it's resolved it will never be resolved. Getting that specific mana with the fixing we'll have as a limited deck usually won't come until LONG after the game is over, even in a relatively slow format. With Excommunicate in the pack still, I'm not sure white won't be open and better for us packs 2 and 3, so I'm rather hesitant to commit to red right now. This is Alara; we're not going to stick to two colors, but the closer we can get to "two and a splash" the happier our mana will be and the better our game plan ends up.

At least, that's my point of view.

I was thinking this as well and it's why I'm interested in picking the Sculptor. We're definitely UB at this point, but we shouldn't decide to "splash" red for Cruel Ultimatum unless the red cards we see lead us there. I don't feel that in this pack.

I'm taking the Sculptor.

You know what, I'll go with that. Sure, sculptor.

Alright, I'll follow suit and change to sculptor too. It's a better argument than I can come up with for anything else. But I still want to go grixis.

why do we want a 1/1 with a negligible ability or a 1/2 with an again negligible ability when we can take an actual for real removal spell? sure it's possible we'll take a 90 degree turn and wind up in Esper with heavy enough artifacts to make running a Squire worthwhile, but given where we're at now, especially seeing Bloodpyre this late, it looks like red's a good place to be, and if we do wind up Grixis then we absolutely don't want greeter or sculptor. vote Bloodpyre you guys, it's actually playable unlike any other option on the table.
