This is really close. I'm going with Pathmage for the body, but Peel is good too.

I think we take the Pathmage; it's a creature, a mana-sink, and a win condition.

Chief Engineer seems like an easy choice.

Strongest cards in the pack are red...

I'm going to go Pillar of Light though. Maybe we can reinforce how unopen white is and benefit from a strong pack 2.

Well, there is no use cheating out a grind clock... but I am tempted to take engineer on spec. Also a 1/3 for 2 isn't bad if we end up going control.
There are only a few cards for which Engineers text is relevant, and 3 are rare (the fourth being juggernaut)

But really I think the pick is between Hunt the Weak and going into red with scrapyard mongrel. Red does not really look open though.

I am willing to try to play UG if it's open... maybe we can try the grindclock/scavenger combo!

I'm going to say Mongrel to speculate on more artifacts.

If you're going to speculate artifacts, you want the Engineer. That way, we would still have an undecided color.

I want the pillar though. Goes with our trip spirits towards :u::w: RAF and removes most bombs.

Engineer is completely unnecessary for UR artifacts... the mongrels, lava axes, and giants are your wincons if you can't get there with terns.

Pillar

Mostly because I admire the nerve of picking the most cut color and hoping that the guy to our left didn't open a white bomb.

I think the Scrapyard Mongrel is a great card. The 5 power and trample are excellent, and blue-red artifacts is a thing.

a) should've picked the mongrel, b) tinkerer but this is shaping up to be a pile.

Tinkerer and sometimes your first 2 colors get cut. In fact you can EXPECT white to get cut.
