Would it be possible to incorporate [Flash] tags that would allow for sharing videos similar to the youtube tags?

I'd be wary of that, since flash stuff can autoplay whereas embedded youtube videos can't.

Aye, I dont know much about the actual back end of those sorts of things so I dont know what is / isnt possible.

Just posing the question to see where it could go. A lot of Adobe tutorials and stuff that I'd consider sharing or having threads about are flash videos embedded into the pages rather than being on youtube. If its not something the forums could feasibly support without issues then I'd just simply stick to linking to pages where the videos could be found.

Just tends to help have content in the actual thread sometimes... people sometimes have the mindset of "Oh, I have to go to another page to see that? Nah."

I definitely agree that would be nice, it's just something to be careful of and it makes it more difficult than just a simple port of the youtube functionality. note that I have no knowledge of the backend either, so how much more difficult I have no idea.

Trust me when I say that I don't want random tabs suddenly loading videos or more importantly noise without my permission.

yeah. that was the reason I finally caved and got adblocker. I try to whitelist sites that are good about it, but there were just some that were like "hey auto-playing video ads are an appropriate thing to have, right?" and I was like "nope."

Yeaaaaaaah, autoplaying the video (even if related to the content) and having you story spread across ten different pages with one paragraph each is a quick way to make sure I never load your site again.

First, the various pieces:

• Front-end: I've started mocking up the search page*. Search results are next.
• Back-end: I'm consulting with Fire on the database structure, since he has actual experience doing these things.
• Card input: Obviously, the database needs to be set up for it to have cards in it. I would like to have an automated script to load cards, because there are going to be rather a lot of cards in there and no one wants to type them all in. Ideally it could read in an XML file exported from MSE and output directly to the database. This should not be too hard but can't be done until the database exists.

In general, each piece needs a lot of work, but we know how they all fit together at least, and have started work on most.

Also, if you or anybody else has input, please, tell! This is for you guys, after all, and it should do what you want. Yes, you.
