So, here's a thing I did today. I'll post the lyrics here, as well, although they are in the video. This is another example of me embracing myself with my lack of singing ability. Enjoy!

This is another example of me embracing myself with my lack of singing ability.

As someone who has spent nearly seven years in a job which requires me to sing, play drums, and shake my booty, despite the fact I can do *none* of those things without looking like a tool and sounding like a complete jerk, I can relate. There is a recording somewhere of me trying to go up to get the high harmony on "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" which I think the military may actually have attempted to weaponize.

Anyway, this is super cool. I always like your multimedia content for your poems and songs.

Thanks! I really wish I could create art or was close friends with someone who did.

Like, I envisioned the background picture for this to be sort of like that promo pic of Antonio Banderas from Desperado, but instead of him, it was Fisco, but just like, in smoke-form. With glowing red eyes. In a Sin-City style of artwork...

Okay, so it's probably best I can't do art...

There might be a Bob Ross video for that? But I kind of doubt it.

Could Fisco look like happy little clouds instead?

Something tells me Aloise would giggle like a schoolgirl at that thought.

I am imagining Aloise telling Fisco to sit still while she tries to paint his portrait, and Fisco making that wonderfully soul face which I can always imagine him making when Aloise wants him to do something cute.

Yeah, I can definitely see that image.

Incidentally, I sort of wonder what Fisco thinks of the song Ol' Smokey Comes if he ever hears it on Jakkard. I imagine it would amuse him.

Remember, the Noggle sang the last few lines of it as Fisco left the saloon in "All-In".

He's familiar with the song, and it was amusing for a little while, but mostly it just reminds him of what he regrets about his past. :/

That being said, this was fun to listen to, because it was almost exactly how I imagined it going in my head! Hehe, the "doom-du-du-doom" sounds in the background made me laugh when I first heard them. ;)

Very nice. You sound a lot like I would imagine a Jakkardian centaur or minotaur to sound, so I think it works perfectly.

I do remember that...now. And yeah, that certainly makes sense.

I wasn't exactly going for laughs... :(

Oh, well! :D

I've been told I LOOK like a minotaur, too...

Just kidding, although I was once told that I have a face for radio. She apologized profusely and swore she meant to say "voice for radio," but still.

Anyway, thanks for listening!

I actually think you could push the monotone further and make this full on spoken word with rhythmic accompaniment. Like really dark beat poetry, with a dash of Jim Morrison.

Sadly, I can't think of "spoken word" without thinking of Shatner. And picturing Shatner doing a spoken word of this song makes me simultaneously greatly amused and deeply troubled...

Sadly, I can't think of "spoken word" without thinking of Shatner.

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

The video's pretty good, though. I don't think I've ever gotten the rhythm correct on the poem before.

Glad I could help!

Happy you liked it! Yeah, my rhythm on my pure poetry is usually pretty consistent, but on these songs, it can get a little screwy, owing to my complete lack of training or knowledge with music!

:D

I always thought it was my complete unfamiliarity with poetry that gave me troubles with rhythm.

Well, I suppose I can't say with absolute certainty that it isn't that, too. :-P

Like I said, most of my poems are pretty solidly metered. A few will drop a syllable here or there, or fudge which words would naturally be stressed or something. But my songs are slightly more free-form in the sense that sometimes you need to stretch or bend a word to fit it, or condense smaller words to fit the beat. (I'm sure I'm not using the correct terms here. Music is difficult  )

When I write songs (which, owing to Jakkard and Magic: The Musical, I've done more of that on this forum than I ever thought I would) I do get it to work in my head before I put it out there, but it's really hard to accurately communicate it to the reader. I just don't have the tools to do so.
