Many of the bands I like could somewhat loosely be categorized as "progressive rock/metal" so I guess that is the short version of saying what sort of music I like. That, and post rock. I am very into post rock, favourites being GY!BE and Mono.

In fact, I am so post rock that I **** B&W dead birds

Saint Vitus has never been all that good. I feel it's more of "we're old as balls and therefore must be important so listen to us", and I really don't want to.

Candlemass is purported as one of the end-all doom metal bands, but I've never really been a fan. It could be, and I will definitely admit this, that I have not listened to enough of their work.

Candlemass's albums Epicus Doomicus Metallus, Nightfall, and King of the Grey Islands are wonderful. Traditional doom = best doom IMO

Tbh, I wasn't a fan of trad-doom at first, either. Mainly because I had gotten my start with bands like Electric Wizard, Sleep and Ufomammut. So the comparatively more bare-bones approach was kinda off-putting to me at first but I gradually learned to appreciate bands like Candlemass and Solitude Aeturnus for what they were.
I don't usually care much for vocals but Rob Lowe is golden.
