How do I go about uploading files? I see the widget at the bottom when I post, but not otherwise. Is it only possible to upload to a post, or can I upload directly to a gallery like in the old Wizards forum? I'd totally understand if that kind of image-hosting is beyond the NGA budget, but if it is possible I wish to learn how. :)

No, only attachments in posts and for avatars, afaik. Besides, the size limit is pretty small, so you're probably better off using an image hosting service regardless.

Currently I just host everything on sites like IMGUR and think link it using image tags.

For some of the more complex stuff like PDFs and such I use other routes though.
