Hi, I'm a bit of a nooblet and confused on some of the rules. I kinda just have a planeswalker I'd like to post here, no story yet BUT I'M WORKING ON IT DAMMIT. Would that be a thing that is allowed?

Hell yeah! Make a new thread for it, though; this is our off-topic thread so things move along fast and important matters tend to get buried.

and that the Raef story is no longer being called Legacies.

And Raef now actually has a more solidified look, so... the piece done earlier is no longer accurate.

Thanks! One other question: I know our position on canon is "don't contradict," but what if it's such an unimportant event that it would just skip under a canon's radar? Like, someone got themselves trapped in the Izzet guildhall and ASPLODED their way out. The Izzet guild explodes all the damn time, so would that be a problem?

Proooooooobably not; I'm sure there's all sorts of minor guildhalls or guild-owned buildings that get exploded all the time no matter what guild we're talking about. To be sure, though, I'd wait for Barinellos to swing by. He's our resident Flavor Guru.

A good few questions to ask here is: Why does it have to be the Izzet guildhall? Why not some other Izzet laboratory? What does the narrative gain from the guildhall exploding? Besides pissing off a dragon.

If the answer to these questions are "nothing", or "for style points", your story will probably benefit from leaving it out.

Yeah, as implied by the others, a lot of it is down to execution. It kinda depends on what you're trying to accomplish and how closely things are tied to canon.

Well, the character I came up with is a walker...who wields lightning...and has little to no idea how to control his powers...near a laboratory full of high explosive compounds(and that's why it's the Izzet).

The next part is him running away pursued by the Boros to the tune of Yakety Sax. (I'm just joking. Mostly.)

Having contact with the Izzet isn't verboten, though you have to tip toe around that sort of thing very cautiously.
Ultimately, it would depend more on what other details there are other than being a sparkmage with little control over their powers.

I think this is the real meat of your story. Although I prefer the Benny Hill music, myself.

(Welcome, Daedalus!)

Oh, thank God.

It had been, like, a solid day or two since I made an arse of myself in public. I was starting to get twitchy.

Thanks, Daedalus!

Nope, I'm just a moron.

Always a safe assumption, by the way.

When someone asks you if you've done something clever, you say "yes." It's a lot like the Ghostbusters advice on when someone asks if you're a god...

:D

Raven is the reason why Death of the Author is a thing :P

Also, the new Opeth album got leaked and there's an instrumental on it called Goblin and I felt compelled to share because A. Opeth is great and B. I'm a rebel and I'm compelled to break the most important rule of this board.

This whole album feels like someone unearthed a lost Emerson, Lake, and Palmer album... It's so proggy.

Indeed. I would also like to claim agency over Death of a Salesman, The Death of Superman, and The Death of the Incredible Hulk (the one where Lou Ferrigno falls out of a plane) but not the death of Rock Music, because I believe my pro-Rock Music stance has been made clear.

This whole album feels like someone unearthed a lost Emerson, Lake, and Palmer album... It's so proggy.

"Don't EVER mention Emerson, Lake and Palmer around Gypsy!"

Sorry, another MST3k flashback, there.

Believe me, I tried. But my residual honesty TKO'd my desire to appear cool.

This is why I should never be a Ghostbuster.

To paraphrase Homer Simpson, don't think of it as lying, think of it as writing fiction with your mouth.
