Guh. Brain no work.

because they're made to Maral scale.

Actually, I was thinking of Kahr, since he seems to have a thing for dual-wielding.

I think Beryl would know which end of a sword was the pointy one, but that would be about it.

Honestly, and no offense to Raven, but I have very little knowledge of Kahr.
There's sadly only so much of me to go around.

The Kahr was stalled, the engine was dead. Got it.

Just dropping in to say I will read these, but it STILL might be a day or two. This whole next week is still going to be a little spotty for me, unfortunately. After that, though, it should be clear sailing...

Was it the spark plug? That is as much as I know about Kahr.
The funny thing is by the time you get around to reading them, you'll have at least 3 more probably.

Though the one coming up later tonight might count as 2. I'm... still kind of blurry on if I want to count it as two of them in one.

Yeah, and your stuff isn't all, either. There's a metaphorical ton of stuff to read, and I'm behind on my writing, to boot.

It's going to be a long week for a lot of reasons...

I love this so much. I love that these characters are getting so much expansion via this sort of tertiary means. It's a trope I've always loved, and I think it's coming together very richly here. Well done.

Thanks Keeper.
Honestly, as strange as it sounds, I feel like this is probably one of the best things I've written, no matter how short and dense it is.
It's just that there's SO MUCH to be said about these relationships and individuals, and, not to brag, I've managed to convey that all in a fairly succinct form.

This is definitely one of the most dense pieces I've written at least.

So... aside from the character interaction, what do you think of the artifacts themselves?

I like this a lot, although it is driving me absolutely up the wall that I can't for the life of me remember what the heck Naraka is.

But yeah, this seems good to me. Not a lot to say beyond that.

Ok, so it's not something that's already in the archives. That was driving me nuts.

I don't really have a lot of energy or brainpower right now to formulate a more detailed response so I'll just say I like this one.

I'm going to do these one at a time, or else I'll forget where I was or which one I was talking about.

@The Blood of Ghuildin: I find myself more interested in the story than the ore itself, although I really like the detail you put into the description of the blades, particularly how they burn up the finish whenever they ignite. I also like this as another example of how different Maral's approach is to such pursuits than Raleris is with the other artifacts. Also, I like that Camdyn's dragons apparently need the ore to create fire. That's a nice little factoid that could potentially turn into a full story at some point in the future.

@Void Edge: I really like this one. Again, I think that to a point, the story outweighs the actual artifact, but less so than with the ore. Both are pretty cool. Also, I absolutely love the self reflection Maral does throughout this one as she notices the parallels between the Black Artificer and herself. Very nicely done.

@The Arms of the King: Yeah, you and Keeper are right, this is excellent. If just for the relationship shown between Raleris and Maral, this would be great, but the added development of Vasilias, the history of Ikass and Ariva, and the parallels between these two artifacts and some of the toys of the Dominia Cabal, this is just exceedingly excellent.

@The Executioner's Glaive: I like the glaive. It reminds me a lot of Purging Scythe, which was always one of my favorite cards when I was first learning Magic. For some reason, I envision Naraka as a world where Raiker Venn has 'walked, but then again, I sort of mentally insert him into a lot of places...

@The Requiem Swords: Not bad, though not my style, honestly. I find it a little odd that the plane would be so willing to give up the thing that represents their eternal peace, and equally odd Maral would take them, although I like that you played up her humility at the action.

And now to respond to all of Raven's comments:
Blood of Ghuiblin: The entire thing has been an amusing look into the difference in approach between Maral and Raleris, just in how the two even look at the world is sufficiently different, I think. As to the story, really that's another thing I've been practicing with in an effort to showcase the differences in the characters. All of Maral's collections read a great deal more like microfic, so I've really had a lot more fun putting the stories together. By all means, if anybody feels like expanding on such things, feel free.
Void Edge: Both of these being set on Camdyn, it seems somewhat fitting that they garner the same general reaction. Camdyn seems to be shaping up into an interesting little background for these stories. I'm debating whether or not to source another artifact out of here, but as it is, I'm happy with the peek we've gotten at the moment.
The Arms of the Fallen King: I'm still debating on if I should count this as a double entry or just a paired entry. Regardless, this is what I feel to be the largest contribution this set has to what we're doing and I am distinctly pleased by the fact that I've said so much with so few words.
The Glaive: If Raiker Venn wants to visit, he's welcome to. It's a helluva place though (for all the barely thought out details I've assembled for it.)
The Requiem Swords: Basically, the line of thought goes that if they are entrusted somewhere off plane, they never have to worry about the question of if the myth is true or who might undermine it as a result. Basically, it's safer offworld than it is on the plane it is responsible for.
Sort of like keeping your key somewhere safe instead of locking it inside your car.
.... that metaphor got away from me.
