Not gonna lie, I'm feeling pretty smug about this. It's a rather clever workaround actually that capitalizes on the fact that the stories are all Templates. I knew there was a good reason to create them as templates rather than just regular pages! :D

Also Category:M:EM_Work Category:M:EM_Story Category:M:EM_Poem in case you were curious.

I kind of wish you had mentioned that you were trying to do that earlier, because I could have helped fast track that a lot, not to undercut your accomplishment.

I'm like 80% sure I did mention it. :/ I mean... I've been working on stuff for the wiki for months now, and the more complex code stuff is basically stuff that I've had to teach myself and invent whole cloth.

If it was anywhere but here, I wouldn't have noticed.
I've pretty well removed myself from the metaboard.

In other news, I'm wondering at what point it would be a good idea to post my worldbuilding project. I have the scaffolding up, but it's just the work that remains to be done. Aside from that, a big part of that is if I do one immense infodump or dole it out as to not overwhelm people.

So, since the forums went down, I've gotten a bit antsier about working on my current worldbuild. I've actually made some pretty significant strides in the past two days, but it still doesn't feel like it's quite reached critical mass, even if I do have enough to post it right now.

There's also the issue of information saturation that I'm worried about. You guys know how my worlds tend to go. There's a **** TON of info attached to it all, so I sort of worry about overwhelming people by posting everything at once.

Anyways, I'm sort of opening the venue to gather opinions on what I should do re: the world.
Wait until I have everything in place? Go ahead and post it in snippets?

As someone whose storytelling background is heavily rooted in GMing for games, I tend to leave the world in broad strokes and make up details on the fly when I need them. I think giving just the overview of the world will draw people in better than if you dumped a ton of info at once. The intricate detail can go in side documents or be alluded to in your stories.

Oh. My. God.

(Why don't we have an emoticon for wiping the cold sweat off your forehead?)

You have no idea.

(Why don't we have an emoticon for breathing into a paper bag?)

As the site stayed down for longer and longer, I got more and more panicked. Not even about losing work, although you can be sure that I am a moron and have un-backed-up work on here. (Mental note: Fix that.)

But what I was really losing sleep over was the fear that I wouldn't be able to get in touch with so many of you. You've all become my friends, and the prospect of not having you all as part of my daily life was too grim to contemplate.

(Why don't we have an emoticon for a big, group hug?)

Anyway, I am so glad you see you all.

(Why don't we have an emoticon for doing Balky's happy dance?)

I know that bloody feeling...
Incidentally, why the hell am I the only one that ever uses that expression? I mean, locally, I understand it, but... I'm actually the only person I can name that does.

The absence of some form of fallout shelter was leaving me rather exposed as well, raw like a nerve.
I have Keeper's email, but that's it... and even beyond that, all the work I do has no meaning without you guys, so my life feels distinctly empty even with the accomplishments said and done.
Suffice to say, I was more than slightly pissed that the NGA twitter never said anything, though I'm not sure I have any right to be miffed about that.

Oddly, I could have sworn we did.

I pretty much immediately started concocting plans for the worst case scenario. The main thrust was essentially to post notices via the Archivist account all over the Wizards forum, and to post a message over on Salvation as well, about a regroup location. The major fear was over work that hadn't been archived yet, since everything that's been archived has been backed up in the Drive account. We'd have lost anything not personally backed up, but the archive itself was safe.

The person who runs the twitter (Welder? Or maybe Sapper?) might not actually have contact information for Fire or Bun, which is why the lines of communication were down there. I posted something on Tumblr around 9 last night but without any way of contacting Fire or Bun I couldn't really say much. That, at least, is a problem that I'm going to rectify, so in case of emergency check out the EM tumblr.

That was a somewhat tense twelve hours though T_T

We need an emergency meeting place! Like where you were supposed to go to if you got lost, or if your house caught on fire.

Hello, all. You may know that I returned yesterday from LoNSaCA (Land of No Signals and Campfire Ash) to a total lockdown. I was a little bummed because I was supposed to have caught up with what happened over the weekend. I'm still going to have a bit to catch up on, but at least I can do that now.

I need more M:EMber emails.

What expression? Breathing into a paper bag? Is it really that uncommon a phrase?

I think he means the adjective/expletive "bloody," common in British English parlance but less common State-side.

As for me, Barinellos, I don't have an answer. I know I've used it occasionally, but not often at all. For all the British TV I've watched over the years, you'd think I'd use it more...

Good to see you made it!

Would you like your account linked? Your name is currently in the list of Inactive M:EMbers, but I can add you back to the list of Voting M:EMbers whenever you'd like. VLW is around but hasn't said whether they want their account linked, and I haven't taken the time yet to link Arcades Sabboth even though they are around, as well.

Oh. I try to refrain from saying "bloody" because it has been my impression that it is equivalent to saying #&@%ing in English English.

Also, I forgot to really fill everyone on how my trip to LoNSaCA went. Well, it was a forested mountain. I am :u::w: That should about sum it up.

I actually had a pretty good time hiking 1.4 miles (each way) and 1,400 feet up; but being in the campsite (ironically the most :u: part of the place) sucked goat balls. The campfires were the worst part of it.

Heya, Dustin! Glad to see you found my buoy. Welcome to the new island!

Woah, welcome back! Didn't honestly expect to see you make it over here, so this is pretty cool! We've done a lot in your absence, so uh... yeah, you got lots of reading material :P
