ive had decent success with this deck, but in reality i dont think its really that great lol. any ideas?

13 islands
9 mountains
2 izzet gates

3 hedron crab
2 tome scour
4 doorkeeper
3 guard gomazoa
3 chill of foreboding
4 inspiration
1 time warp
2 shock
2 anger of the gods
2 bolt of keranos
4 vent sentinel
3 gargoyle sentinel
1 avarice amulet
2 goblin electromancer

basically the goal is set up a good line of defenders, then either mill via the doorkeeper + tome scour etc, or hit u with vent sentinel ability and direct burn. 8-1 so far, but would appreciate any tips

Hey Guys!

I made an Izzet rush deck that runs pretty smooth, but needs some polishing, which I'd be grateful for:

Lands:

Island x12
Mountain x8
Izzet Guildgate x4

1 cmc:

Vapor Snag x4
Artful Dodge x4
Shock x4

2 cmc:

Kiln Fiend x4
Fling x4
Negate x4
Think Twice x4

3 cmc:

Guttersnipe x3
Dissolve x3

4 cmc:
Talrand, Sky Summoner x2

The decks bases on Kiln Fiend/Guttersnipe/Talrand to be in play and just cast instant/sorceries to get dmg/drakes. It's pretty quick and you can buff the fiend to 7/2 + artful dodge (+dmg from snipe), and then next round artful dodge flashback, pump with something, attack and fling = gg.

Negate + Dissolve are there to protect your creatures.

Any comments greatly appreciated.

Random thoughts:
Mainly thinking if I should replace Negate with Nullify.
Anger of the Gods seems like it would hurt me more than the enemy, altho I didn't play a token deck yet.
Maybe Quicken would quicken the deck?;)
Time Warp might slow the deck down, but it also might win some games.

So far I rushed everything down just by spamming dmg with Guttersnipes or unblockable Killing Fiends with Guttersnipes.

I'd definitely keep Negate over Nullify. You've got enough evasion and removal that a resolved creature isn't going to give you too much trouble but a single Shock can ruin your plans.

Other than that looks pretty solid.

Hey all. Here is a deck i just built today and it is seriously my favorite deck now. It has done very well in testing. But could probably use some tweaks. Helpful advice is always welcome. =)

Identity Theft ** Premium Build **

Lands

17x Island
5x Mountain

Creatures

2x Talrand, Sky Summoner
2x Roil Elemental

Artifacts

2x Sphinx-Bone Wand
1x Elixir of Immortality

Spells

4x Vapor Snag
2x Vapor Snare
3x Ior Ruin Expedition
4x Think Twice
4x Negate
4x Nullify
3x Dissolve
1x Time Warp
3x Act of Treason
3x Portent of Betrayal

Basically the game plan is to bounce, counter, harass you're opponent while gaining enough Mana to drop Sphinx-Bone Wand, then the fun begins.

Act of Treason Portent of Betrayal then bounce them back so they can't use them on their turn works great as well.

Let me know if anyone takes if for a whirl. I'd like to hear your feedback.

Thanks for reading.

I'm horrified-- This game comes out just a day before I leave for Japan. I hope my Windows 8 tablet can run it effectively enough for the plane flight.

Ouch! At least you can have it DL'ed before you leave. Good luck and enjoy Japan for me! I'd love to visit Japan some day!

Hi everyone! Japan sure is beautiful. So are Izzet decks!

For you with more control-ish decks, have you considered Counterlash alongside your Charmbreaker Devils and possibly more late-games? At it's worst, it's another counter. At it's best, you get to live the dream of Lashing into Kozilek!

Opps.. That was supposed to be Void Snare But I believe I've further tweaked that to Voyage's End

Wow I just played the most unfair game.

Opponent plays turn 2 Kiln Fiend
turn 3, artful dodge, Krenko's Command. swings for 7.
turn 4 artful dodge, Krenko's Command. swings for 9.
turn 5 switcheroo
turn 6 guttersnipe
turn 7 bolt of Keranos to my face, ending the game.

WHAT THE HELL

The same guy beat me.
He casts turn 2 Kiln Fiend.
I play creature.
Vapor Snag. I'm at 15
I play creature.
Vapor Snag. Think Twice. I'm at 7.
I play creature.
Shock. Krenko's Command. I lose.

I think he wants a war..

edit: I wonder what this guy's deck is like when he doesn't draw Kiln Fiend.

Sooo. I've noticed that there seem to be a lot of Kiln Fiend decks around here. I have what I guess could be my version of said deck, though I don't rely entirely on the Kiln Fiend or Guttersnipes for mine. It's more just a super low-curve aggro deck with some bounce and unblockability and all that.

Strike Fiends

Blue:
2x Cloudfin Raptor
4x Vapor Snag
4x Artful Dodge
4x Voyage's End

Red:
3x Coordinated Assault
4x Satyr Hoplite
3x Furor of the Bitten
4x Shock
4x Bloodcrazed Neonate
4x Kiln Fiend
3x Guttersnipe

Land:
7x Island
10x Mountain
4x Izzet Guildgate

First off, the Cloudfin Raptor is only there because I feel like 15 creatures is too low a number for a kinda creature-oriented aggro deck, so they bump the number up. I don't really know what to replace them with, or even if I should; I haven't done much testing with them in the deck yet.

Also, I'm kind of thinking of removing the Guildgates. Since the action wants to start fast, and has to in this deck (otherwise I'll get edged out of the fight pretty quickly in most cases), having my first turn being spent on just a tapped land can be seriously detrimental. Plus, since everything's so cheap, there aren't any dual-casting-cost color thingies, so I don't need to worry about the difficulty of casting something. I literally just need an Island and a Mountain and something else (usually, preferably, another Island so I can flashback Artful Dodge the same turn I play it the first time).

What do you guys think? Any suggestions? Anyone want to test how it runs? Any feedback at all is appreciated.

You could increase your board presence and trigger Guttersnipe/Kiln Fiend at the same time by casting Krenko's Command. The Cloudfin Raptor is pretty bad here, and I'm not feeling Bloodcrazed Neonate because I feel like it's too uncontrollable to be consistent. I bet you burn a lot of Dodges/Furors/Assaults too early in an effort to keep this guy alive.

I think Artful Dodge is fine in this deck, but four feels like a bit much; have you considered trimming to three copies?

I'll see what happens when I replace the Cloudfin Raptors (and maybe an Artful Dodge but it runs very well with all four) with some Krenko's Command. As for the Bloodcrazed Neonates, it's true, I do use a lot of those things to keep it alive, but considering that the longer it lives, the stronger it gets, plus each use of those things triggers Kiln Fiend and Guttersnipe, it's a fair trade-off. Bloodcrazed Neonate is actually one of the choices I'm happiest about making in this deck.

Sounds good, if Neonate is playing well for you then keep it. I think you can get away with three Dodges because it seems it would be bad to draw in multiples, but if you need them to keep your Neonates connecting, then perhaps four is the correct number.

My only other suggestion for cuts would be Furor, but I understand how strong Satyr into Furor can be.

Here is mobius's take on Galvanic Juggernaut, shared with me this morning. I haven't tried it, and the rest of this post is straight from him:

0 (0): None

1 (8): 4x Vapor Snag, 4x Shock

2 (4): 4x Krenko's Command

3 (18): 3x Niblis of the Breath, 4x Pestermite, 2x Goblin Rabblemaster, 3x Cunning Sparkmage, 4x Act of Treason, 2x Blasting Station

4 (5): 2x Ogre Battledriver, 3x Galvanic Juggernaut

5 (1): 1x Burning Anger

6+ (0): None

Lands (24): 7x Island, 11x Mountain, 4x Izzet Guildgate

- There are obviously a million ways here to "unlock" the Juggernaut once it's been tapped. Kill something on the opponent's side. Untap it with Niblis, Mite, or even Treason. Use the Blasting Station. Even use Sparkmage on itself or another one of your 1-toughness creatures (just about everything) if you're really desperate.

- I tried rolling with 23 Lands at first, but if you miss your 3rd land drop you might as well just concede. I ended up cutting the 3rd Station for another land if you're curious.

- Okay, we've justified running Juggernaut, but as you can see everything else mostly works fine by themselves (and obviously better together). Rabblemaster (the red Brimaz), Battledriver, Sparkmage, and even Niblis can't simply be ignored.

- Obviously you can apply the untapping shenanigans to Sparkmage.

- If you have the Burning Anger and not the Juggernaut, at the very least, with no opponent interaction and a creature on your side, you can make another Sparkmage. Bonus points if you throw it on a Rabblemaster, attack with it, and after the Goblin buff triggers, and untap it with Niblis or Mite.

- If you turn off Auto-Resolution, Blasting Station + Krenko's Command are sorcery speed Shocks in a pinch.

- I wouldn't call this a tier 1 deck, but it certainly is functional, like the U/G Military Intelligence deck. It is extremely difficult for this deck to beat Anger or Brimaz, but what can you do? I wish there were more quality 2-drops in the pool.

Wow, what a delicious brew! The manual untaps are a pretty interesting idea to continue the Juggernaut, I would have just splashed white for Raise the Alarm/Brimaz, etc.

My compliments to the chef! :hand:
