So, this was a random thing I wrote. It's also my first poem since Grade School. Mostly, I did it on a challenge. See if you can figure out the theme.


A missing Thing you try to find,
With night’s approach, you lay, and try to drift,
It’s lost within that swirling mind,
As shadows hold it fast within a rift.

You try to cast this thought away,
But as you do, it simply grows in might.
Unfound, and you’ll stay up ‘til day.
So into dark, you cast your probing light.

A star looks down atop a hill,
Illuminating halls that span a land.
And though your goal is hiding still,
You know, within, your victory’s at hand.

With mind, you scan for what was lost.
And now your stomach turns and starts to knot.
You hadn’t thought about its cost.
What if this Thing should stay unfound, forgot?

But in your sight’s, a brilliant glow.
At last, that thing you sought through lows and highs,
That thing you wish so much to know,
It sits within your grip…
..................................................You realize…
