kiln Fiend is maybe a beast, but since you have only 3 ground assault as your instant/sorcery he is a 1/2 beast almost all the time which also doesn't trigger the packleader. I understand the need to get a counter on your 3rd turn Advocate of the Beast, but even as a 2/3 he is not worth the slot.

I would first of all add another Advocate of the Beast.
I would consider Marauding Maulhorn -> he triggers packleader, he doesn't have to attack with advocate of the beast, enchanted with Furor of the Bitten you don't mind the disadvantage. with burning anger you don't have to attack, you can tap before the attack. with Lightning Talons you can practically look just at his power.
some arguments also apply to Stomper Cub - and he has trample.
Prey upon might also be ok.

I didn't play this build, but I would probably remove the sartyr also, turns 1+2 would be gates+elvish pioneer. I'll add Talons, burning anger, maulhorn, advocate remove ground assault and inferno fist (you want to keep auras in for Gnarlid)
Thanks I'll try it out. If its still clunky I'll have to think about scrapping it and going the ramp route or fast route.

New build with suggestions.

4 Elvish Pioneer
4 Elvish Visionary Didn't know what to put here and I needed two drops, option could be Wandering Wolf
4 Advocate of the Beast
4 Aura Gnarlid
4 Primal Huntbeast
3 Garruk's Packleader
2 Terra Stomper
2 Marauding Maulhorn

4 Furor of the Bitten
2 Inferno Fist
2 Lightning Talons
1 Burning Anger

Land: 10 Mountain, 14 Forests.

I think gates will just slow it down, going to go and test this now.

Edit: Tested it against the AI a few times and its working a lot better than before. Could always do with more tweaks though.

Maybe -X Garruk's Packleader +X Stomper Cub? Probably don't take any of my advice ever, I've been in and out of magic so much I'm still a noob.

Also maybe -1 on each of the elves and +2 Goblin Bushwacker just to mix up the colors of your early drops while still retaining usefulness mid/late game?

Goblin Bushwacker would make more sense in a RDW/goblin deck tbh. This deck tends to win by one Aura Gnarlid getting through for unblockable damage rather than swinging on mass with a ton of weenies.

I hadn't considered that, it takes care of needing to maximize on tramplers too, so more card draw to find them is better. Sweet build.

8 Mountain
10 Forest
4 Simir Guildgate

4 x Shock(Needed for early spot removal)
2 x Volcanic Geyser(Spot removal too, but try and save for big blast)
1 x Stormbreath Dragon(Protection from White,haste, Monstrous? What's not to love?)
1 x Inferno Titan(I tend to always try to put this in, favorite red card)
2 x Shivan Dragon(With the ramp and the power up ability, it's deadly here)
2 x Siege Dragon(Takes care of pesky small ground critters and hits you in the mouth too)

4 x Elvish Visionary(draw, then cannon fodder)
2 x Elder of Laurels(early block at 2/3 isn't bad, but pays off later with ability)
2 x Reclamation Mage(I will NOT be beaten by an enchant again, lol)
4 x Cultivate(Might as well have it anytime you select a forest from lands, this auto shows up in spells)
2 x Arbor Colossus(Reach, Monstrous, op)
3 x Garruk's Packleader(Draw that's protected somewhat)
1 x Soul of Zendikar(Take advantage of the extra mana)
2 x Phototitan (Wiggle Room, Add whatever you feel like here. This titan really causes rage quits as a defender)
3 x Pelakka Wurm(7 life, trample, get a card when dead? A must add)

3 x Ground Assault(helps with early AND late spot removal)

I haven't been able to test this against control as everyone is running aggro lately. Anyways, it steamrolls over that, especially goblins. Makes Boros it's complete bitch. Makes other Gruul I've been up against cry. Rakdos should give it a little trouble, if I find one playing it. it hasn't lost yet, but I suspect Control might give it more trouble. Will just have to see.

(I dedicate this deck to my friend, Niros Vokram, who's probably out to sea for half a year on a fishing vessel. It's a deck right up his alley.)

My boros deck begs to differ about your "complete bitch" statement. It seems to think it would demolish you before you had the chance to get rolling. I dunno, my boros is full of itself but not without merit..

Heh, Don't get me wrong, it may not be YOUR Boros.

Everyone is different. Heck, I made mine first strike filled and yeah, players fell for it over and over.(except the good ones)

haha. Yeah my boros is DISGUSTING. You can see the current build in the boros section. It is ruthless.

Boros has the best removal in the game. It's kind of hard making a bad boros too, nevermind if the guy you are playing knows what he is doing. I like the confidence though.

Didn't mean to say you can't just run a creature build, I just wanted to point out that even the removal was great. :) although the opposite is true of your statement too.

Agreed.

Someone had the audacity to say Anger of the Gods wasn't very good in another post I had read.. I wonder if he is playing the same game?

Unbound Rage
x12 Forest
x9 Mountain
x4 Gruul Guildgate

x4 Shock
x3 Ground Assault
x4 Advocate of the Beast
x2 Lightning Talons
x2 Triumph of Ferocity
x4 Marauding Maulhorn
x2 Ogre Battledriver
x4 Primal Huntbeast
x3 Garruk's Packleader
x3 Stomper Cub
x2 Burning Anger
x2 Terra Stomper

Nothing special here. Just a silly deck I threw together because I needed something in G/R. I'm fully aware the curve is all over the place and that it doesn't really have any tricks going for it.

On the upside it hits pretty hard and draws like crazy. Also Burning Anger is a surprisingly good card when you have 10/10's running around en masse.

Edit: Spelling correction. Thanks Hakeem...

Running around on mass? :p

There's not much to say about fatty.dec, except to ask how Triumph of Ferocity is doing for you. I generally don't like cards that are good when you are winning and bad when you aren't. I've seen this card on the other side of the table and it's never been a factor. Actually, it has been a factor in my wins because my opponent takes a turn off to play it.

Now these are bad players with bad piles, so I'd be interested to hear if an actual player has had success with it.

...I knew what I meant! Man I have to start looking at the things I write before I post them.

On the subject of Triumph of Ferocity. While it's true that it doesn't really help if your already losing (a shining endorsement that) in this particular build I feel it's worth the slot. Things like Marauding Maulhorn and Garruk's Packleader are often large enough to ensure you have the largest thing available relatively early on and the deck *really* needs to keep drawing cards to keep the pressure on. It's not great or anything but once you get a creature to stick (that is manage to pump something to 4+ toughness) it generally will provide a steady stream of cards. Still would have run Harmonize over it if I had the option though.

Look at it this way. Most of the decks I run into are weenie or control. If I can get a Primal Huntbeast to stick (despite it only being a 3/3) I'm pretty likely to have extra draw coming in on it's back alone. Add in tokens from Advocate of the Beast and it basically becomes a guarantee.

I've pretty much had the same experience with my Naya enchant deck and Tribute to Ferocity. You also have to know when to play it. I'm not gonna throw it down T3 when I am curving into Advocate of the Beast + Primal Huntbeast. It can also depend how slow your opponent is playing. I will throw it down over an Aura Gnarlid or something if my opponent isn't doing jack yet.

Here's my RG list.

"Tower Defense" (no premiums)
4 Gruul Guildgate
13 Mountain
7 Forest
-
4 Shock
4 Bolt of Keranos
2 Anger of the Gods
3 Cunning Sparkmage
3 Rockslide Elemental
1 Stormbreath Dragon
1 Inferno Titan
2 Charmbreaker Devils
2 Burning Anger
-
3 Reclamation Sage
4 Primal Huntbeast
-
2 Avarice Amulet
2 Creepy Doll (edit: accidentally named Stuffy Doll)
3 Ground Assault

I wonder if I should add Gargoyle Sentinel. They used to be in the deck at one point, but I think I cut them for Reclamation Sage.

Also maybe I should cut Rockslide Elemental. There's no time to wait for him to become big. Might as well just replace him with a creature that is already big (e.g. Pelakka Wurm) and be done with it.
