It's your standard 'lock down the opponent and sit by patiently waiting for a win condition to turn up' UW control deck! This thing has a brutal combo built in that let's you wreck havoc on your opponents side of the field either by drowning them in drakes or blasting them to pieces with wave after wave of magic - for the record I got both the 'Use the same spell 5 times' and 'Cast 5 spells in one turn' achievements using this deck. One the same turn. While it isn't quite an infinite combo and can be disrupted with well timed removal or counters you still have 4 of each of the key pieces so it's a pretty reliable combo to work with.

Overall the decks pretty slow and kinda boring to run but man if it gets the job done.

Edits
Heavy changes to the deck to give it a little more survivability in the early game. Game plan remains the same.

This deck is broke! I just drew 17 cards off of Bident of Thassa! I also run 2 main deck Negate for those stupid removal spells. Also, I suggest removing thoseAttended Knights for something like Lone Missionary. I'm even considering including a main deck Elixir seeing how I'm just tearing through my deck. The most funniest thing about it is...I'm 60% done with completing my decklist! Haven't lost a match online yet!

Shame there's not more control builds. Almost everyone seems to be going to weenies in all colours. I understand that's where the metas at but come on Azorious is about control man. Thanks for making one anyway Garren. I'm going to try and create my own, maybe throw the only two sphixes we have in just because I like sphinxes :D

Azorius Control v1 [premium]

This is a rough draft, and it needs more testing before I know what stays and what goes.

It runs a risk of getting overwhelmed before it takes off, use counters and such aggressively to stay alive until the pieces are in place. Once they are, it becomes damn near unstoppable. The hurdle is just surviving that long:

Spoiler

Focus is early defense through raise the alarm, bounce, counter and such, followed by Talrand and Jalira - once Jalira is alive and you can keep it that way with cloudshift/counter/bounce and gets activated, it really goes fast. Devils will refill your hand with defensive spells, Dragon will knock down your opponents fortress, Talrand will provide aircover, Mentor will give you even more insane draw, end of turn you will end up discarding which is great if you happen to draw one of the uncastables, then elixir can shuffle it in and you can insta-get it into play with Jalira.

If you like UW control and also insane rare-bombs, this should work for you. VERY heavy on the premium content though.

King of Oreos is just there because he's a cool 3/4 body with tokens for 3 mana...

I'm testing True_Believers build now against the AI and just found out how fun and broken Jalira can be if she goes off. Sac a 1/1 token get a [/c]Soul of Ravnica[/c] into play :D

Changes I made were -2 Mahamoti Djinn +2 Horizon Scholar I felt like I wanted some sphinx and even though the Djinn has better overall stats the sphinx casting cost is better and the scry never hurts. Could always change them for the Rocs or something else. I know the Djinn is probably the better choice though.

I would say, run some real rare-bombs instead. Don't look at the color tbh.

Djinn ? Horizon Scholar ? They are both in the pile of cards called crap-rares and for a good reason. Evasive yes, but they do f all besides that. Anyways, just my thoughts. I'm still working out where I personally want to take my deck :=)

Would the Roc's be better then? I know they're not rares but they have -1/-1 compared to the former two and come out two turns earlier. Not looking at the cards right now so I can't see the other bombs.

dropping attended knight is a good option - they should either be 4-of or 0-of.
I like having them as an optional first strike defense wall while I send my 1/1 tokens crushing into opponent. or when I send my opponent attacking with bident.
baneslayer is a very good alternative if you didn't get your cards drawers.
time warp is just always useful.

cards you should also consider are reprisal - because you don't care about small creatures.
you can always use it just to split your 20/20 chasm (specially as a response to control spells).

I think that the 1/1 unblockable blue creature might be better than lone missionary, because he costs less, and your blue mana tend to be dead.
selfless cathar also seems like a very good option.

I also made my mono white deck based on this with reprisal, selfless cathar, leonin snarecaster and seraph of the masses - also very strong.

I play all three Rocs in my newer version of my deck and I have to say they are all stars. The 3/3 stat line usually proves sufficient for whatever you want them to be doing and with the sheer number of 2 or less toughness creatures out there there is almost always a target for them to bounce. I'd definitely recommend running them over the Djinn.

Atm I swapped them out for two Aegis Angel. If I have the Rocs in the mana curve is a little weird.

Thats a solid build Bentz, I will have to give it a try. Was thinking of making a Military intelligence and chasm skulker deck but you already did that for me!

The deck isn't actually that slow or boring tbh. I tested this against my G/W token deck and this deck beat it by swarming with drakes. I will say one thing though, I think this deck only has one real win condition and that's Talrand. Btw I ended up with multiple mancers (drawing them etc) and kept getting multiple turns as well as with Time Warp :D

Edit: Not sure if the want is worth it. I don't think there's enough cards to work with it and by the time it comes out I'm already winning and only get one counter on it. Drake tokens seem to be the way this deck wins almost all the time.

Well I couldn't decide which I liked better, Garrens or True_Believers build so I went with this.

Objection!:

3 Wall of Omens
1 Brimaz, King of Oreskos
2 Mentor of the Meek
3 banisher Priest
1 Baneslayer Angel
2 Aegis Angel
3 Guard Gomazoa
2 Talrand, Sky Summoner
3 Skymark Roc

3 Reprisal
3 Angelic Edict
4 Think Twice
3 Dissolve
3 Inspiration

11 Plains, 9 Islands, 4 Azorius gates

Input?

Azorius mill attempt

v1 - so work in progress.

"what a crab deck"

CMC
{1]: 4 Cloudshift, 3 Hedron Crab, 4 Vapor Snag, 1 Elixir of Immortality
{2}: 2 Illusionist's Bracers, 4 Doorkeeper, 3 Military Intelligence, 3 Wall of omens, 1 Stoneforge Mystic
{3}: 2 Mentor of the Meek, 2 Chasm Skulker, 3 Guard Gomozoa, 4 Coral Barrier

Lands:

8 Plains
12 Island
4 Azorius Guildgate

So, yeah, play cards, draw cards, draw many cards, mill whenever. The curve is kept really low, to free mana up for the doorkeeper at some point.

Only had a little time tonight, so 7-3 online so far. Including the win where I had forests instead of plains and simic guildgates instead of azo in the deck. Lost to a spider graveyard thing with 3 cards left in his library. 2 after he drew. He ran a 70 card deck. So there you have it, UNDENIABLE PROOF that 70 cards are better than 60!

I love this build and have destroyed with it. I made a few changes here and there (adding some preemies and what not) but overall it is the same deal. Tokens get out of hand with the quickness and just overwhelm the opponent before they know what hit 'em.

For me the wand is in there mostly as insurance. With the vast majority of my creatures simple being too tough to be taken down by most of the burn/removal we have this year Talrand becomes a massive glowing 'shoot me here' sign for my opponent - and his 2 toughness allows him to be taken down by a stiff breeze. The Wand, while a little more expensive and a little slower of the mark, is a decent bit harder to actually get rid of. I also don't find the Wand all that expensive in this deck - T7 is something I can easily hit and often much longer then that. If there is one thing this deck doesn't do it's lose quickly.

So yeah in summary I like the fact that it's in there. I'd rather have it around and not need it to win then have Talrand die and suddenly be out of win conditions.

Ok, so this mill deck has been successful so far? I've yet to have one win a match...not even close to milling them out. So guess what? Mr. Plagiarism is just gonna copy your deck, lol.

What's really sad is I really suck at deck naming so I end up stealing that too.

The Southern Winds deck I posted above...I can't beat it when I do a practice duel vs it. ....that should tell you something.

Succesful yeah, but as I write, I have only done 10 games. It might as well be the only 7 wins the deck will ever get where I hit the only 7 matchups it could ever compete against and my opponents all landflooded to death and I could have won by being absent from the keyboard...

This is also why I write v1 - work in progress. I will evolve it to try and secure it a place in the meta.

Oh, and it works best when you get some draw going - Mentor can draw cards off every creature, military intelligence only really works with squids or if you bounce opponents blockers first, you can attack with crabs and mentor too - keep a cloudshift handy so you don't lose combo pieces. Once you start drawing 4-5 cards pr turn, you can just keep building your wall and amassing lands, drop bracers on a doorkeeper and endstep mill for alot. One game, I barely got the draw going and had to spend mana to defend myself more than anything else. And suddenly, I just got past that bend, 2 bracers on doorkeeper and 6 other walls in play. Milling suddenly becomes VERY fast and deadly, when the crab already milled the first 15 cards or so and the activation means 21 cards for 3 mana.
