First of all, I just wanted to say Hey! I finally decided to migrate here and leave the official forums for good. I can't handle anymore 2HG rage threads and complaining. So I lurked around here for a while and decided to join up! It seems so much friendlier here! Anyway, to my point...

So I'm terrible at building decks of my own, but I think testing out other peoples' decks is a lot of fun, and I'm learning a lot about deck building! I love Simic, so once I saw your deck build, I had to test it out, and I must say, it is amazing! I'm 4-0 with it so far and it's a ton of fun. Lots of card advantage and EtB abuse. It reminds me of Ancient Wilds from 2013, which was my favorite deck. But yeah, great job man!

Hey Mobius, you're still one of my favourite players here. :]

Can you share the most current build of your deck modified to include premiums? I know you'd trade Voyage's End with Vapor Snag.

Has anyone tested Blue Paragon in a deck similar to this? Could you consider Darksteel Ingot + putting the gates back in to splash white for Cloudshift/Wall of Omens?

Well first let me say welcome to the forum! It's good to have ya with us!

Second thanks for the praise. I'm still particularly fond of that deck and you pretty much hit it on the head; 'Ancient Wilds in Blue' was what I was going for when I was putting it together. Glad to hear your having fun with it. I'm currently in the process of trying to fit a pair of Enlarge in there to give some of the huge creatures you end up with a source of trample. Or maybe Hunter's Prowess to kick Chasm Skulker into overdrive. So many experiments to run!

I tested out Garrens build and while it can be fun it can also become boring eventually. It requires too much setup, while you're setting up the board stalls out and then it basically becomes a game of how many counters you can get. I'm not sure if it would work well competitively but against the AI it is slow to get anywhere. Other than that its cool and reminds me of Ancient Depths.

You really think so? Out of 7 ranked matches, I only lost once to a very quick Boros deck, and I was stuck on 3 land for a few turns that game. I thought it set up really easily. Almost every single game I played went like this:
T1: Cloudfin Raptor
T2: Timberland Guide targeting Raptor or Elvish Visionary
T3: Cultivate
T4: Species Gorger

And from then on, I just kept drawing a ton of extra cards from Visionaries or Packleaders and they couldn't deal with all the card advantage. There were a couple games where I was close to losing, but Nylea's Disciple put me right back in the game. I think this deck could be pretty competitive. I think its only weakness is white decks because of Reprisal. No other color has good removal for all the huge creatures.

Well my only problem with the card draw is that it comes late game, often when you should already be winning. For improvements I definitely think some type of trample effect needs to be in but I see Garren is already working on that. Often I would have these big creatures that the AI (and probably a real person) would just block with a 1/1 or something. The deck without trample gets most of its damage through with the limited flyers it has. I'm going to try Mobius version next to see the differences and maybe make some alterations like I did with Garrens (put in 2 Terra Stomper and Soul of Ravnica etc). I thought of a name for the decks btw. Darwin :D

Welcome Ay Jay! Yeah - I've been looking over at the other forum, and it seems like most of the people there just want to complain, and not actually talk about the game or decklists or anything like that.

To be fair being screwed out of max copies of some guild gates because of a bug that probably won't be fixed for 3 months (if ever) is a valid thing to complain about.

That's not really what I was talking about - when I was having issues with getting my premium cards, I posted there as well.

It's the 20 threads complaining about the lack of 2HG. The "this game is trash" threads. The "Thank you" ones that just rip the game and everyone related to it.

If you've got a valid bug, then that is the correct place to put it. I just feel bad for anyone who does, since it's unlikely to get read, among the rest of the "stuff"

Oh yeah all of that....I have to scroll down loads just to reach any bug related thread. Unfortunately WotC couldn't evolve past amphibians in the pools of Simic.

I just tried out a version of the Simic Time Walk deck and had somebody legitimately rage quit on me. Called me a c*** and everything, LOL. This is one fun deck.

As you can see in the screen shot, he was playing the Orzhov life gain deck and was at 50 or so life with an 11/11 Ajani's Pridemate before I went infintie. Pro-tip: don't gain 30+ life if you can't handle a long game.

screenshot

At this point he somehow infinitely paused the game, hope this doesn't become too common or we might need a timeout feature. It didn't really matter though because at that point he wasn't getting another turn and he had no way to stop the Species Gorger beats.

My decklist if anyone is interested, still very much a work in progress.

Time Walk (Premium)

The Dissolves have felt a little weak, might be a good thing to cut.

You could go with Chasm Skulker instead of Dissolve if you wanted to. It only gets stronger, has a plus side when it dies and you're drawing some extra cards in this deck anyway. An extra two creatures doesn't hurt, just my thoughts. They may not even fit in the deck.

Oh Doubling Season if only you were in my free premiums packs, though Garren's deck looks fun even without it.

Rain Forest

It's the typical 60 card deck, but I ran it very successfully at 64 until I figured out what 4 cards to remove. I'm thinking of starting a thread called "Trimming the Deck Fat" so players can post their trouble with deck building decisions and possibly receive help..I sure need it.

06 Island
14 Forest
04 Simic Guildgate

4 x Vapor Snag
4 x Void Snare
4 x Voyage's End
4 x Think Twice

3 x Reclamation Sage (Believe me, it's needed)
4 x Cultivate
4 x Nalea's Disciple
3 x Garruk's Packleader
2 x Terra Stomper
2 x Phototitan(Want to frustrate Boros to no end? This is the card)
2 x Pelakka Wurm

It's a meat and potatoes deck. Easy for beginners to run.

Phototitan's constant recursion has fed Garruk's Packleader more times than I care to count.

The blue's job is simple. Control the early game and then clear paths later on so the fatties can wreak havoc.

Twelve bounce spells seems excessive, especially in a creature-focused deck. You should have some combat trickery in there like Titanic Growth or something.

I really need to study the pool tonight, can't wait.

For what it's worth Doubling Season really is one of the weaker options for that deck. Outside of Genesis Hydra nothing really benefits from it that much. It's actually what I ended up cutting for a pair a Enlarge to grant my Hydra and Chasm Skulker that much needed trample to finish the game.

I'll give that a try. I'll remove 4 Voyages and put in the Titanic Growth . Why not? It's all in fun and I'm not competing seriously for weeks until I get the feel for how things are going. Most of my ideas are "counter defensive" and I need to study the meta as much as possible to know how to counter.

Thanks for advice. Could use more suggestions if you got them.

Don't you dare take out Voyage's End; Scry is good. Take out the Void Snares, the sorcery-speed is a real drawback.

As for Titanic Growth, I attacked with a Stormbreath Dragon into a 0/1 Cloudfin Raptor and got blown out by it. Think about that.

I don't if it is the meta or just me, but I could not build a decent simic deck no matter what I tried. Only achieved 25 to 30% chance of winning at most.
