While slow games can sometimes grind, CWG tends to be in the category of "slightly slower with more players" > "slightly faster with the same few people"

Like Monopoly? It's more fun with more people even though it obviously is going to take longer?

I'm not sure about monoploy, but the social edge of the Wargame certainly lends itself to "Having a lot of folks on either side results in more fun"

Good to hear Lord LunaEquie! It hast tended to go pretty slowly by necessity for the past round or so due to a small number of players, but with more the pace can be increased without additional pressure on players (except the judge, although it would be nice to be able to have both a Battle and Movement judge again!).

So then, it is up to thee to decide on a side to join. As it is neither is started (although we take it as a given that Tevish is Phyrexian), this will allow ranks and armies to be assigned, and bases designed and placed. Once the site is working again thee can take a looksee at what is already there and perhaps only go for minor alterations.

I'd be willing to take on the role of the Movement Judge at least.

I'm undecided
What are the limits of each?
And advantages?

Is there a CWG wiki that currently works? All the links on WotC are leading to dead ends.

There are some mild army composition and healing differences between the two. This is from memory, so I'm sure TGL will correct me if I got any of this wrong

Phyrexians can utilize creatures that don't have the Mirran watermark and are blue, black, red, or colorless as well as creatures that are of any color as long as they have the Phyrexian watermark. They heal at any Portal/Stronghold (Phyrexian Base, the exact name changed when we added transit portals), of which there are 5, in two turns.

Coalition members pick one primary and two secondary factions. There are seven factions to choose from, one for each color along with "5 Color" (gold) and Artifact. The army in question may select only creatures that fit one of the selected factions, and can't use creatures with the Phyrexian watermark. That is to say, you can't have multicolored troops of you didn't take 5C, monowhite if you didn't take white, colorless artifacts without artifact, etc. Your army would fully heal in a single turn at your primary faction's base, at two turns in a secondary faction base, and not at all at any of the four remaining Coalition bases.

I'm starting to populate some wiki pages with a basic framework of copy paste information from the old site. I'll have to get with the people who actually played at some point and have them proofread.

Could use gold, as long as the gold card (depending on the round/ruleset) was either entirely blue, black, and/or red or contained at least one of blue, black, and/or red. Under the less restrictive set we could (and often did) use Lightning Angel. We could also use white and/or green Phyrexian-marked cards like Tine Shrike or Putrefax once those became a thing (when the game was first made, back in Invasion, Phyrexia had a strongly black color identity with bleeds into black's allies 'cause multicolor block.)

Hm... I remember writing a strat for this a long time ago, it involved Copper-Leaf Angels? Or was that an example I read? I'm pretty sure it was mostly fliers, considering it was over water I think.

Oh well, I'm interested in joining, but I'm going to be gone for the first two weeks in August so the timing may not work out until a little bit later. I'm not picky about my faction, but Phyrexia is obviously the best.

Ahoyhoy Dr. Demento! We recognise thy name there, good to see thee about too :).

Tevish hast it right on the army design and healing differences as of our last round (with the looser Phyrexian restriction that creatures cannot be only white/green without the Phyrexian watermark).
His Coalition is good too, although at the end of last round, to make the victory point system easier, 5-Colour and Artifact were dropped from The Coalition so that multi-colour creatures count as their associated colours, and colourless (and artifact) 'freely available' to any army. Once the site is back up we'll check that one.

We now hath the sides begun! Huzzah! Still, the more the merrier, so if thee know of anyone who may be interested, give them a poke. We art kind of hoping for an organic filling of the ranks, but thee should probably start considering what thee want thine army to be like. We art happy to help any who would like aid for that one - although there is no 'best' army, there art many terrible ones.

Thanks for offering to judge there Bounty Hunter, we'll see how things pan out then while putting things together. All good on pulling together a Wiki too! We looked at that a bit and what the changes hath done left us with a desire to not go back ever again >.>. We art afraid the WotC Wiki is the only one, it used to work though! (On that note that, thee may spot that if we set a design deadline and it is not met, thee will end up with a base/stronghold that is a banana)

Thanks for movement judgeyness offer too CvA :). Doth that mean thou art willing to join in the slaughtering of hapless innocents as well perchance?

One step at a time my friend.

Considering I played on both sides of this conflict at points in it's history; currently it's best to remain neutral.

So any links to a map or wiki pages that actually work? I'm trying every thing I can, including the Wayback machine but mostly finding deadends.

Thanks in advance.

No, the map site is still down, so Murica hast yet to take a looksee at it (but just getting back from holiday is 'fair enough'). The old Wiki can be accessed through 'http://community.wizards.com/group/coalition-wargame' all the links on the Wiki-tab work to the pages, but the pages themselves hath lost the links between them. Better than nothing though, no?

Good news, the site is back!
The various links to Wiki, History, Tutorials, that sort of thing art not there (but can't remember if we ever quite got around to populating those), but can see the maps and armies and structures that were placed prepared for Round 7 (http://cwg.derxis.ro/).
