Kind of like how, while I am admittedly not an expert on vampire mythology, I'm pretty sure that vampires don't have to go to high school, but all the ones on Mrs. OL's favorite CW shows appear to choose to do so anyway.

So, because I made an off-hand comment in the Core-Set-ting thread about rolos, OL decided to give me an Amazon gift card specifically so I could buy rolos.

I would like to motion that OL is a national treasure, and should be protected at all costs. Those in favor, send him good vibes telepathically. Those against, WHAT ARE YOU EVEN DOING HERE GO AWAY! >:(

Ahahaha, really though, thanks OL! :D

Is he a Canadian national treasure or is he just kind of every nation's national treasure? Is Nicolas Cage going to track him down and demand that he needs to be in a museum?

Which reminds me, I like your taste in comedy OL, The Red Green show is quality programming.

That would explain why Nick Cage tried to kidnap me and rub lemon juice all over my back.

At least, I really hope that's the explanation.

Earlier this week, I did a really crummy job installing a window-mounted air conditioner. It didn't fit quite right when I was done, and the window was in no way sealed properly.

So I got a roll of duct tape and just taped over all the gaps where I did a crummy job fitting the foam seals into place.

I could just imagine Red Green smiling at me and giving me a big thumbs-up.

I hear that if you've got Nicholas Cage problems, bees are the standard remedy. Of course, then you need to deal with your bee problem.

Not really, but OL is a man, and he can change, if he has to, I guess.

OL should be a mod or something. He'd be great at it.

Also, is it time for the Nic Cage song?

(Is it ever not time for the Nic Cage song?)

I now feel like my life will forever be divided into two halves: the half before I saw the Nick Cage song, and the half after I saw the Nick Cage song.

On an unrelated note, activity is practically buzzing around here at the moment! We've got content coming in faster than I can keep up with it. I'm trying to keep tabs on all the stuff which I haven't gotten to yet, but it's a challenge - and, for once, that's not entirely due to my questionable organizational skills! I know I'm behind on WotW, for example, and on FtV, and on a bunch of new walkers/planes.

Which is my sidelong way of saying that, if you've posted something recently and I haven't commented on it, (a) I'm sorry, because I really do try to look at everything, and (b) please feel free to poke me and let me know that I missed your work, at which point I will make sure I catch up.

(Unless, of course, you don't want my comments, which I would totally understand. If that's the case, then I recommend leaving me in a state of ignorance. Which is one of my most frequently-visited states! One more visit, and I'm pretty sure I get a free 6" sub!)

OL, this is terrible advice for someone who just got through saying he's super busy, but I'm gonna say it anyway: You should totally read Homestuck, from whence the Nic Cage song comes.

Also, I think our posts per day rating is slightly down from what it was a few weeks ago, but we're still on coarse to totally overtake Constructed within very short order. After that our next targets are Out of Character and Limited. We now have five different M:EMbers among the top 20 posters on the site.

So yes I can see why someone might be having trouble keeping up :P

I suggest watching PBS Idea Channel's video on Homestuck before reading, for one simple fact that he states with great clarity:
If you decide to read Homestuck, you can say goodbye to your nights and weekends [beat] for the next 3 months.

There are over eight thousand pages. Eight. Thousand.

Of varying length, mind you -- there will be times where it takes you several hours to read a single page's dialogue while at other times you'll blaze through twenty pages in less than two minutes, and there are also many flash pages interspersed throughout (which is why you'll have to read on your computer and not a tablet or phone) which also vary in length and content -- but regardless it will take a long time to work through.

However, even saying that, it is delightfully self-consistent despite being, essentially, a time-travel story. So delightfully self-consistent, in fact, that I've had little to no problem following odd time-travel stories like Donnie Darko and Primer after reading Homestuck.

Oh, and it will have you laughing in tears as well as **** your pants multiple times.

Well, in your defense, I didn't actually say I was busy. I just said I can't keep track of all the things I mean to do, which is a different sort of problem. :)

I will have to check it out. Maybe I'll try to marathon a bunch of it one of these weeks when I have some time off.

One of my all-time favorite lines comes from Primer: "Man, are you hungry? I haven't eaten since later this afternoon."

For the record, I enjoy hearing (or reading, more accurately) anybody's thoughts on my stuff, especially those of the people around here, but I know as well as anyone the brain-space that can eat up, no matter how much we enjoy reading one another's work. Therefore, I will not be sending you any "Read ME!" notes. Not because I don't want your feedback, but rather because I'll be happier knowing you're spending your time more or less where you want to.

And as I've said repeatedly, War of the Wheel won't be finished for a long time yet, so as long as I'm around, it's not going anyway. Catch up when and if you feel like it. Until then, it's not a thing. It's meant to be a diversion, not a chore!

(Also, when you redeem your card for your sub, don't tell them you have the card until after they've made it. Some of the newer kids tend to scrimp on the fixin's if they know it's going to be free!)

Wow. I wouldn't have guessed that. I must talk more than I think I do.

Also, on that list, I'm apparently currently at 13. That's...sort of impossibly cool.

In celebration, I will here repost my poem "Thirteen," which appears in the Innistrad Anthology and in Raven's Rhymes. Enjoy!

Thirteen

Has anyone been watching Weird Al's 8 videos in 8 days? I've been enjoying them immensely, especially since now I can hum Word Crimes guilt free as opposed to the vaguely guilty feeling I got every time I hummed Blurred Lines.

No, but I did just watch Word Crimes itself, and apart from it bringing back old war memories with things I've struggled trying to teach my students, I love it.

Oh my god I laughed out loud at "Like 'I could care less.' That means you do care. At least a little." That's one of my biggest pet peeves. :P

See, I responded more strongly to "Tacky" - mainly because I want essentially every piece of clothing worn in that video.
