I once knew a psychology grad student who was doing FMRI research on earworms. One of the papers he co-authored got picked up as a general interest story by some newspapers and magazines, and he wound up doing some interviews about it.

One reporter asked him which songs always got stuck in his head, to which he replied something like: "My whole life, it has always been 'Yellow Submarine' for me."

Which didn't exactly read on the page the way he had meant it. So he started getting letters and e-mail from empathetic people who thought that he was being constantly tormented by the song 'Yellow Submarine,' suggesting all these cures for getting an earworm out of your head. People really thought that 'Yellow Submarine' was destroying his sanity.

I loved Gargoyles. Which reminds me, I have yet another new 'walker I might try to develop. (It's not a gargoyle, although that would be cool.) But it does touch on something that came up in that show once.

That's pretty funny. My sister is the worst at songs getting stuck. Often, if it's a catchy enough song, all I have to do is say the name of it, and it'll get stuck in her head for hours.

Also, if you guys want a song that was DESIGNED to get stuck in your head, I highly suggest the Chicken Song from the British puppet show Spitting Image. Good, obnoxious stuff there.

You have my INTENSE INTEREST.
Particularly to return to the original lore of the gargoyles in Magic before they all became artifacts. :twitch:

The Wurm soup was still better.

Wurm soup is nice, but soup is just throwing things in a pot. A true test of a cook is to see if they can properly Sauté.

(okay, I'll be done with the joke now)

I hope you guys are proud of yourselves. Do you have any idea how annoying it is to have the lyrics to Ducktales play in your head while the background music transitions back and forth between Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles, only to have the whole thing try to become Freakazoid!? This is what was happening in my head all Phyrexia-cursed day.

You all should get lost!

And a shout-out to Dr. Demento for giving us all something that will become a running joke for years to come.

Ah hell... I'm getting jittery again guys. I haven't produced anything today and my subconscious is chewing at my nerves because of it.
This is starting to get kind of frustrating and worrisome....

I say you drop yourself into trance and have a little chat with him. Tell your subconscious that you really appreciate his help, and he's doing an excellent job, but that you guys don't have to produce something every single day. Tell him that tonight would be a great night to just relax, and you guys can get back to it tomorrow. Thank him again, and wake yourself up.

Not for everyone, I know. But hey, it might work for you.

You all may think I'm a bit cuckoo, but I like to go on YouTube and watch videos of birds.

I can't quite explain why, but I find birds very peaceful. I find it hard not to feel good when I'm watching birds. Honestly, living in the city, one of the things I miss most of all is birds. One of the things which I aspire to in my dotage is a little home with a picture window with a bird feeder outside.

The fact that people now post videos of birds on YouTube labelled as "entertainment for cats" is (a) useful for me and (b) makes me feel mildly embarrassed about enjoying them so much. But, hey, cats have the right idea about certain things.

I think I'm just going to call it now...

Clinicals are over, I'll be going on Saturday for my month-long vacation in Las Vegas, the sorrow hanging around from my Grandfather passing and losing my dog have passed-

I think I'm ready to be back. I'm already enjoying reading what's up for vote. And I mean actually enjoying, which hadn't happened very much in the weeks leading up to my absence.

Huzzah! Your return is certainly triumphant!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there's an official source on whether or not angels in the multiverse need to eat and/or sleep? Or does it vary from plane to plane?

Good to have you back, Luna :D

@Szat:

I've always gotten the impression that it varied, but who knows where that assumption actually came from.

@ Luna - My reaction to your news can only be described thusly:

@ Szat - I would think it would vary from place to place. There certainly seems to be a lot of variation between other angel behaviors. I suspect it depends on how much any given particular model of angel is meant to emulate - and, by implication, empathize with - humans and other mortals.

The one seriously in-depth look into day to day angelic life that we've had is a terrible example because it stems from Serra's Realm, a place where the AIR ITSELF would sustain you. No food or sleep, just good clean air...

Serra was so screwed up.

Aside from that, we do have it directly from Feather's mouth that she does not need rest or food* to function normally. When severely injured, she needs time to recuperate, but a lot less than mortals would.

Every other small glance into angels we've had suggests that most do not need to eat or sleep either. There've only been about three or four of those, but just based on the general shape we've seen from planes like Zendikar and Innistrad, it seems likely that they mostly follow the same rule.
About the only instance of variation I can see is the idea that Innistradi angels might need sleep, but that's mostly because they have specific living spaces set aside for themselves in the Cathedral.

*Feather did mention that she enjoys eating at times, but she doesn't have to.

In other news, I FINALLY HAVE A DAY OFF! Just in time to celebrate my friend's birthday too.
