Yay! Lord Luna speaks!
Oh my God, it's a haiku!
You, sir, made me smile.

An unreserved yea from me. I love the direction you folks are taking these story threads in.

Wait.

Should I be abstaining on this?

I mean, I voted yea.

But. Should I be abstaining?

I would imagine that if you wrote part of this, then yes, you should probably abstain.

Thank you kindly, sir!

Since you're one of the authors, I believe we ought to have you abstain.

How do I, uh, take it back?

I believe the poll allows re-voting. So, if you just re-vote for "abstain," it will override your old vote.

I see no reason not to vote this in. My comments on the original thread still stand, including how much I enjoy it. "Yea" from me.

@ Raven - I didn't mention this explicitly above, but I did add that little addendum to the end of Part Four, just to try to set the table a little more explicitly and to give a little more closure. (Or what passes for closure where Beryl's family is concerned, anyway.) I remember that was where you suggested it would fit best, and I think you were right.

Yeah, I saw that, and I agree it works best there. I assume she's just there to explain about Astria's birthday cake... :D

You know, I've been doodling Beryl and I'm almost at a point now where I think I have a decent sense of how she should look but it's been a troublesome process and I think part of the issue for me is that I don't picture her... I hear her. She mumbles. Even when she's speaking confidently, there's an element of mumble to her voice where she doesn't quite enunciate clearly. It's very, very vivid for me. The trick has really been finding a face to match the voice.

It's interesting how things like that come up with certain characters. I don't get that from Beryl (although I very well may start now!) I'd be interested to know what attributes people assign to my characters, especially because I rarely describe them.

Well I got a bone to pick with you in particular because the description of the Dual-Walkers is like... stunningly beautiful... but remarkably similar... but Chardis is definitely very masculine... and also they're evil and smirk a lot. And juggling all those things was Not Easy :P

I gotta actually scan and post these sketches I've been doing...

They do smirk a lot. It's sort of like Fisco and his cigar smoking. If they don't smirk at some point in a story, you know something is terribly, terribly wrong! But yeah, I didn't make it easy, that's for sure!

And yes, I'd love to see your sketches!

It's odd, because, when I think about her and try to picture her, I don't so much picture her face, as I picture how I think she looks at you.

And I think that, in most cases, she doesn't look straight at you. She tilts her head slightly down and to one side, so that her hair will tend to hang down and cover more of her bad eye and her scar. But, while her head is tilted slightly away, she looks up at you with her good eye. It's this strange combination of submissive but defiant.

Which I suspect does *NOTHING* to help you. But that's kind of how I see her.

Obviously, she's scarred, and severely so. But I think there's truth to the adage that scars provide character. I think that people other than her, once they aren't shocked by it, will be see that she's beautiful in her own way. I think that she's the person who can't see that, yet.

Which, again, I suspect does *NOTHING* to help you. I swear, I am not trying to be difficult.

I am just insanely honored that you'd do a sketch of her. That's amazing.

And not to belabor a point, but we REALLY need to keep Beryl and Denner far, far away from each other.
