Do you think our Lorwyn 5 should have to be mono-colored, or even spread evenly around the color wheel?

Or are we just talking about the five characters that the majority of our stories revolve around?

Yeah, I would prefer we stick with mono colored characters that serve as a sort of face for their philosophies similar to the Lorwyn 5 in the core sets. Usually.

In that case, we could be in of a spot, as many of our characters are multi-colored. I have two that might work, Denner for and Daneera for . I think Illarion Vale or Raleris might make a better for this purpose, however. Alessa could be our , although she does have a lot of to her. Beryl is a strong candidate for as well, or maybe Gruff. Vasilias might be our preeminent character, although Raiker would work, as would Fisco. I would say Kirsh is our , but he's also fairly . Cara might end up talking the slot, when more is written about her.

Well, going by the wiki descriptions, our mono-colored candidates are:

- Asher, Lukas Harran, Rishima, Zhiran
- Denner, Raleris
- Daneera
- Gruff
- none!

Edit - I think Raef is mono-white? But he's not on the wiki.

Asher would work as . The problem with Lukas is that his mana is all , but his character is very .

Hm, well, it's a lot easier to figure out if you totally ignore WHEN the characters were created (since a lot of our early 'walkers are multicolor)...

Raef seems like a good choice for White, and after him maybe Agmund.

Asher could take monoblack, and so could Lukas Harran or Rishima, although I think of Rishima as in a different... well... power class from the Lorwyn 5 or our equivalents

Zhiran and Raleris are contenders for Blue... there's a lot of overlap in their basic role as scholars but their skillsets are quite different. Zhiran has the same power class problem that Rishima does. Oh, and Alessa, though she's not voted in yet.

For red we've got either Beryl or... Gruff. Hm.

Green continues to be the most frustrating color. We've only got Daneera. Everyone else--and there isn't a lot of everyone elses--is multicolor green.

I think of this list the most interesting counterparts to the Lorwyn 5 would be:

Daneera
Raef
Alessa
Asher
Beryl

Although I could go either way on Asher and Lukas.

EDIT: Wow, I am way behind the times.

AAAAAaaaand I forgot that Alessa is r/u! Totally slipped my mind. Hrm. Maybe sub out Raleris for her then?

EDIT AGAIN:

BERYL IS RED WHITE AAAAARHGUDHSKLHSFKHKJDHGKDSHSKDFHDF WHY AM I SO BAD AT THIIIIS

I hate to mention this, but this makes me really want to come up with three-person teams for each color (multicolored 'walkers allowed) and pit them against each other in a 3x3 rec-center league tournament of champions.

Sounds like a reason to do some more with Planechaser's tower idea, no?

Just so long as it doesn't totally occupy most of season 1 while sidelining the actual development of the antagonists and their position, which simultaneously introducing an annoying and unnecessary love triangle YES I AM STILL BITTER ABOUT LEGEND OF KORRA SEASON ONE

Predictions for how this would play out as a 3x3 basketball tournament:

- Alessa always volunteers her team to be skins.
- Malal redefines "boomshakalaka!" and wins the dunking contest.
- Antine fouls-out in the first five minutes, all on bad calls.

Oh, and Alessa, though she's not voted in yet.
Yeah she is. Live for the Moment is in the archives.
Or it should be...
I've held off on Untitled because.. it... needs a title. *cough*

Still, Raleris seems a good fit, and I'd really like Raef in as white.

Yeah, I think Raef is one of the easiest choices, probably.

Ahahahahahahahaha.

I'm very satisfied that two of those notables were mine.
And Alessa would insist on being skins... even if they had different uniforms.

Hey, I'm just so thankful that one of your characters saved us from having to pretend that the women's good fundamentals made up for their inability to dunk.

We are all thankful that we avoided death to please Femputer.

... Aaaaaaaand now all I can think is Maral grabbing someone and demanding snu-snu.

I was going to say something unrelated to Magic, but that image has pretty much scoured that out of my head.

I think of this list the most interesting counterparts to the Lorwyn 5 would be:

Daneera
Raef
Alessa
Asher
Beryl

If we're sticking to mono-color, I would say this is pretty solid, though as you say, both Alessa and Beryl go multi. I think of Gruff sort of like a mascot around here, so I'm inclined to make him our , although Morgezka Shanak is another option, despite having only appeared in one story. I think Raleris is our , ultimately. So I think my list would be:
Raef =
Raleris =
Asher =
Gruff =
Daneera =

That's assuming mono-color, though, which we probably don't have to. The other thing I'm seeing here with my list is that we now only have one woman, which makes me want to keep Beryl as .

Yeah, I'd prefer there was a bit more gender parity as well. :/ It's also pretty human-centric. Well. Unless you count Raef as an angel which I guess you probably should.

It's interesting - this actually has me wondering what sorts of narrative things might happen that would lead us to see a straight- version of Beryl, in the same way that Garruk and Ajani have shifted colors from time to time since their initial inception, with some story justifications attached.

It's not implausible to me that we could see a mono- Beryl variant were she to be sufficiently and properly provoked.

To be honest, I actually have something of my own "Lorwyn 5" dynamic in War of the Wheel, with Antine (W), Denner (U), Lukas (B), and Daneera (G). No red though, although honestly Penelophine might be (R), but she's probably R/U.

I just got back from running my first poetry workshop. It was a lot of fun (although an admittedly small turnout). We were working, unsurprisingly, with form poetry (what can I say, it's what I do) and no one else there had ever really written in form before. The stuff they were able to produce in a short span of time with basically no prep was pretty amazing. I doubt any of them will do much with form after this, but they seemed to have fun with what we did. It was really fun to see, though!

That's great! Cool that they rose to the challenge like that.

We forgot a blue 'walker! Kimberley Talon, our soon-to-be warrior student! A little off the beaten path for blue, admittedly, but she's already a passable illusionist, so that'd fit ok.

Yeah, it was awesome. I was really surprised with how quickly they grasped iambic meter. Admittedly, it's fairly easy, but most had said they had never worked with it before, and their execution was nearly flawless. I was very impressed. I hope I get to do more sometime.

It's interesting because I know some people can't get a sense of it at all. Like, for whatever reason Sara can't get a sense of meter or of time signatures at all, despite being a dancer. Her mind just works in really unique ways, I guess.
