True. That seems to be Illarion's one major ability, though, and even that is limited. As we found out in Corrosion. To everyone's dismay. :C

I'm not sure if Yxoque was working on that aspect of Penance... I know he was basically designing the prison plane but I'm not sure if that part of the logistics was on his radar...

Speaking of Yxoque, has anyone heard from him? How's he doing?

I think the main thing would be to make it clear that it's a significant rarity--really one of a kind. Otherwise storylines where the inability to get a non-'walker off world is a significant plot point would feel less meaningful. It's a tricky situation...

I could definitely see them being useful for Agmund, who runs an interplanar jail. We never did figure out how he moves prisoners to his prison plane...

Yeah, these were definitely supposed to be a unique artifact (current plan, created as engagement gift to keep a walker from ever being separated from his betrothed). I was hoping that the rarity of such an item would help drive them towards shifting hands so often, either as payment or by force.

Funnily enough, I was just about to look up how the interplanar prison worked, but it was because I was thinking of a Prison Break style story. Maybe a young Agmund does some reverse engineering though..

@Aaarrrgh: You were in LA?! Sorry to hear about the sunburn, If I'd known you were coming I could have warned you that the daystar is not safe. I also could have recommended you some local eateries/card shops to stop by.

@Rings: If writing for Illarion has taught me anything it's that the possibilities for a 'walker character get massively expanded if they can bring a companion along.

I haven't spoken to him in... oh, maybe a week now? But he's holding together ok. He's having some computer problems, and at the moment I think he's just having sort of a burnout period here. I thiiiiink he's planning on coming back but it's been a while since we talked about whether or not he was sticking around.

@Dr Demento:

Aaaaah I really like that backstory for them, actually. That's good stuff. And it definitely adds an air of uniqueness to the rings just by origin alone.

Seconded.

Yes, but they don't get to keep the rings forever, so the question becomes:

Bitter ending?
Bittersweet ending?
Macabre ending?
Daaawww ending?

I've seriously got like 8 different endings brainstormed for this.

Edit: Make that 9, but the 9th is really, really tragic. Also probably too political for my tastes.

I've been thinking of touching base with him, but haven't got around to it (among numerous other things I haven't gotten around to). I was actually reminded of him because the ULTIMATE FLAVOR CHAMPIONSHIPS moved to Alara and I was motivated to nominate Ethersworn Knight in his honor, before I remembered that that's a post-conflux card and would have to wait.

I actually need to check when exactly he voted last -- I think it was April, which means he should be phased into "Non-Active M:EMbers" at this point.

Gah how do I always seem to make these things about me?

Wow Raven voting for a macabre ending is a real shocking surprise I never would have seen that coming :P

@Luna: Shhhhhh shhhh you're fine shhhhh.

Yeah I should send him a message too. I've just been busy over the past couple of days. Also he is in a different timezone >_>

HONK!!!

Yeah, he's like 8 or 10 hours away from me, so I feel really awkward even composing a message to him. Like, my mind goes "well, what if he gets some sort of notification that wakes him up at four in the morning and it's just me talking about ponies T_T"

This has been you're moment of Twilight Luna. Please make sure to grab your bags before exiting the ride.

Admittedly, "Bitter" was a viable option, too. But macabre is just too sweet. I don't want to sour the entire project, though.

Re: Truck repair, as a fake American who lives in a coastal city and does not own a vehicle, I confess to some amount of ignorance as to the specifics of car care. But - and I'm just taking a stab in the dark here - if you have to part with ludicrous amounts of American dollars in order to keep part of the car working, the brakes seem like an awfully solid choice.

Speaking of, I've just been in a car wreck!

Now I'm going to get ripped on cheap wine.

Oh, man! Are you alright? I remember I was a bit shaken up when it happened to me. How are you feeling?

My leg is a bit stiff, my thumb hurts a little, I'm severely pissed, but physically alright aside from all that.
Financially, I feel like reenacting the copier scene from Office Space.

I JUST bloody paid my credit card off yesterday. YESTERDAY.
Now I'm probably going to add about the same amount of what I paid off right back onto it.

@Orcish: I was the only one involved. Mostly because I swerved to AVOID the jackass that didn't even see fit to stop.

That sucks, but I'm glad your ok.

@Squinty: I have phasing, which is why I normally keep people from roping me into long term projects.

@ Barinellos - Yowzers. As awful as the automotive and financial damage sounds, I'm just glad to hear that you're basically okay.
