It's pretty awesome :D I wasn't kidding when I said this was one of the most active boards on here, just with us.

The boards by number of posts currently:

Forum|Number of Posts
Duels of the Planeswalkers|18041
Magic General|14023
Off Topic Room|12565
Art, Flavor & Storyline|10947
You Make the Card|10734
Structured Play-by-Post Games|9585
Out of Character|9055
Limited|8706
Constructed|7508
Forum Posting Games|4585
Magic: Expanded Multiverse|4271
Metaboard|3416
Setup Zone|3023
Other Games General|2851
General Discussion & Advice|961
The Creative Corner|275
Character Building & Optimization|262
World Building & Design|207

~SE++

Mm. The interesting thing about that, though, is that we weren't that active a few months ago. But now... well... for the top four boards there, threads older than one week are visible about halfway down the page.

As Raven pointed out, you have to click to the second page to get to threads that are a week old, here.

That could mean either that our posts are a lot more spread out than other boards, but it could also mean that our activity has dramatically jumped recently, which will, eventually, make up for the slower activity earlier on.

Looks like we generated about 400 posts in a week's time. That's a higher rate of new post creation that a significant number of the boards higher than us. YMTC has us beat, and I think a couple others have us beat or matched, but we're producing posts at the same rate as the most popular board on here... and that's not taking into consideration the fact that some of the content we're producing is novella-sized.

We're doing pretty alright for ourselves. :D

And with Fakeartist, DisGo, and some other newcomers, we're getting some good traffic from non-M:EMbers.

Also, we're a classy group. I have a decorative cane and everything. Very dapper.

I have just procured a new monocle! I declare this to be cause for a gentlemanly outing!
Anon, grab your cane so that we may away!

Also, so I have this piece of random canon for a pair of characters, indirectly linking them, but the problem is I don't really have any means to stitch it together.

Fakeartist isn't exactly a new M:EMber...

Anyway, I wanted to bring link this a while ago, but I don't think I ever did because it seemed so far from what we were producing:

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

If you're do ANY audio-editing at all, then you should have Audacity. It is a wicked-powerful audio editor and recorder and I don't even know what else because I've barely scratched the surface of its features. Even people who make money off of their videos and music swear by it. Oh, and did I mention it's completely free and open-source?

Yeah, I use audacity for my poetry recordings. It works quite well. I'm a fan.

Woohoo open source!

@Barinellos: Wanna spill? Maybe someone else can figure out a way of getting it to work narratively.

Well, if everyone will recall, Alessa was raised in an institute which specialized in a specific field of magic.
The thing is, the institute is actually older than its current incarnation and was manipulated by local politics into the form it has now.

The original institute was founded by... (and everyone should be able to work this one out by now)

Spoiler

Interesting. I'd be cool with that connection. It's distant enough that it doesn't feel contrived or even super significant, but it's a fun little easter egg.

@Barinellos(1): Capital!

@Barinellos(2): I can see you problem now. However, I think perhaps the answer might lie in Alessa herself. Her ability to see the threads of time are typically, if not always, used to glimpse the future. But what if she REALLY wanted to look into her past, into her days at the institute, but her emotions over the things that happen there push her back too far, to the school's formation? Could work.

Yeah, it's basically just background info that's meant to make things feel a little more connected, but nothing that ends up stressing any structures.

Bully then!

And no, her sight only looks one way, not both. She can't (exactly) perceive anything that isn't directly connected to her life and... well, it's just memories at that point. She can't force things back beyond her birth. It's a little like Quantum Leap in that way.

Quantum Leap, you say? Okay, so let's see...

Sam had a helper named Al

Al could only be seen or heard by Sam

In other words, Sam was like a ghost...

In the M:EM, our "ghost" is Renn Winmoore...

So, Alessa meets up with Renn Winmoore, who offers to help her...do something or another...

Vasilias is using Renn to use Alessa to get to Zhiran, who he believes he can use to escape the confines of Ariva.

Works PERFECTLY :paranoid:

Maybe I should just replace my random prompt generator by uploading Raven's consciousness to the NGA servers...

Since I've got you all here, would you guys say that Alessa's debut story (as in, the one which should be in the Archives now but I'm tired and don't want to use up time doing that) being set in OL's Aliavelli (Beryl's home plane which has not been given an official name as far as Archived canon is concerned) counts as a cameo suitable for a dotted line on my Map, or a full-on basic connection?

I have a feeling that if I tried to interface with the servers I might crash everything.

Though if you want to be technical, the opposite of Alessa is probably Cara, who has Ghost Sight.
Alessa is sanguine, while Cara is melancholic.
There are some pretty significant parallels in their characters after all is said and done.

@Luna: I'd go ahead and make it a full on line.

Its okay, I was always far more of an observer back then, contributing one short story to an anthology and worked on a [still unfinished] plane. I plan on doing more now, and officially join the ranks after I've earned it.

A frightening concept.

Plus, we'd wind up with WAY too many puns.

I mean, tons of puns are fun for one son, and I'll shun none, but overdone, they jump the gun, and then we're all undone.

Yeah, I was leaning towards full line myself, and if the author says so, I think you're good.

I love you, Raven. Truly.

Also, as a supplemental to my previous question, should I link A Bet on Kindness directly to Reclamation, since the end of the latter directly mentions the fact that Beryl is wearing the same clothes that Aloise gave her in the former, or does it matter enough to even warrant that connection?

I think it's a pretty significant connection, yeah, since a lot of Beryl's relationship with Aloise is shaped by that encounter. Mapping that reading order at the very least would be worthwhile.

Ah, shucks.

As to the Beryl question, these series of stories we've seen are sort of interesting for a connections map. Personally, I would say that since they're connected by the character anyway, it's probably not vital that they be connected because of apparel. If it were me, I wouldn't.
