Never picked the game up again.
The tactic being that each type of enemy has a specific way to disarm it and kill it most effectively and you should be trying to converse resources not spray and pray. Shoot the heads off the spitting ones, shoot the legs off the charging ones, shoot the arms off the spikey armed ones... etc.

If the first handful of mobs frustrated you to the point of nver playing again ...not only did you miss the point... you missed out on some truly infuriating enemies.

....... Someone did not read the box, the instruction manual, or any literature about the game.

At most, it should take 4 shots to kill an enemy. And shots fired into the body do nothing. And the game advertises this extensively. Ignoring things like stalkers (second game only?) and those skeletal things that break into pieces and do other crazy things and other enemy types you won't run into until about 4 or 5 chapters in regardless.

If I had not done that, I would not have bought the game. I then would not be enjoying it. :V

This is the back of box in question.

Spoiler

Several blatantly placed audio diaries that are almost impossible to miss also impart the same information for steam gamers.

As well as usually googling dead space. If you have to watch a playthrough for this information to get across when it should be known by the second or third combat scenario, you off to a really bad start (no offense my duck overlord but it true).

I played the first one, it made me want to try the second one once it came out. *shrug*

Ill try the third once I clear up some stuff on my to do list.

But I definitely have no desire to watch the entire thing to see if I want to play it, thereby robbing myself of the experience of...well...playing it. Heh.

I found the first ten or twenty minutes of actual gameplay of Dead Space 1 fairly tense, but at a certain point the "surprises" became fairly mundane and I lost some interest there. To be honest, I never finished it, but it was mostly because the atmospheric quality of the game deteriorated for me incredibly fast.

Played all 3. Really liked the first two. I would not recommend touching the third one unless you can get it really cheap (i.e. on sale).

They really dumbed down a lot of the systems to "appeal to a wider audience". This ruined most of the challenge of the thing for me, and .... it just wasn't as fun. For example, all weapons now use "universal ammo". Like..... universal ammunition is actually the name if I remember correctly. And every gun kind of fired the same if you didn't play "classic". And... it continues. While classic mode fixes most of these complaints, you have to go through the game to unlock it first, and this is one of those games where I really didn't feel like I wanted to go through it that many times.

@Fenix: It was Solforge, actually. I wasn't aware your username was a hot commodity.

Who buys games not on sale =X

Is that a thing? Am I not in the Steam thread any more?

I do it for greenlit games I'm hyped for.
Also considering doing it for Transistor.

I've also done it for every wow xpac so far.

Also if you really want to play a $20 game and it's 2 months away from the next sale where it has a decent chance of showing up. Because you don't have a massive steam backlog of unplayed games.

I don't play Solforge. Fenix is not a super popular username but it was the name of an old Starcraft character so in any gaming environment you will always find Fenixes (Fenixii?).

re: buying stuff when it's not on sale;
I used to wait for self-released games (no publishers) from developers I really love (like Double Fine) to go off sale so I could buy them full price to support them.

:incognito: A lot of my games were brought when they weren't on sell or reduced in price due to how long they had been out.

I have fairly few games not bought on sale since Steam has so many sales. I mean, Watch Dogs, Minecraft and Saints Row IV, but SR IV was a gift sent to me.

Give? As in for free?

You do realized that a $60 game for free that you can play a couple years from now if you are so inclined is a good thing right?

...... Out of the weekly deals, the only one I would recommend is X-Blades for $2.

The daily deal is Mafia II. Grand theft auto IV is better....... and that is saying something coming from me.
