@Fel, as I read your last post, I was thinking, if this was me, and I was town, I think it would look alot like this. Out of the three people I suspect, you're the only one who's not admitted to lying.

I'm still going on the assumption that the other 3 town players are telling the truth.

I'm not going to rehash everything again. With how nights work now, we get more info from a lynch, and that's what we need.

I don't understand your confusion, this time around, felbatista.

Yes people have lied; this time should be different. And in general this game is different.
We aren't looking for multiple mafia, we are looking for one. That makes a world of difference in comparison to other mafia games. I'm not saying that taking our mathematical approach is "the best option", but as long as town doesn't lie, there's no problem with it.

We won't have perfect information. But the results people post will give us enough information to start to chart out the potential roles as we did in claiming felbatista and NeoSilk as town. Again, town NEEDS to be 100% honest this time around. There is no benefit to town lying at this point in the game.

Before there could have been (I wanted to see if mafia would bandwagon, and storyteller did to frighten the mafia). But now that we know we could have a definite town or two based on our results, it should motivate people to be 100% honest. Except the mafia, obviously. The difference between now and then, the mafia will be expecting tricks and wit from people, so has to take that into account.

The mafia won't really be able to do anything to us based on what we say unless we lie. So we should all be honest.

Is there something that I'm missing that would cause anyone of the town to lie about their reads last night?

Restating the fact:

I targeted NeoSilk, and my result was Town.

Felbatista, I do think you sound honestly confused, and just trying to play the game. So I will give you the benefit of the doubt. Keep in mind that if we lynch the wrong person today, you will move to the top of my suspect list. But for today:

Vote: Storyteller.

Here's hoping for a Day1 Town victory!

And, that's it for the day, right? Since there are 3 out of 5 votes on Story. Did we win, or are we going to N1

Yeah, you guys win.
Altimis more or less had me with his trap.
Everything past that point was me spouting BS just so the game doesn't end up being as short as it was.

Sorry I didn't quite play well on the part of the mafia.
I was really hoping I wouldn't be chosen ><

And town finally wins a game!
I'll be honest, you had me for quite a while - I had blinders on for Alt, and was almost 100% convinced that it was him.

I think if I were to run this again I would run it with more Mafia and cops, and have an indiscriminate number of cops of each type.

I like that idea. If there's not another one going by the time my existing mafia game is over, I might try and run one of these as well.

Would the insane Dr actually kill someone they are trying to save?

MafiaScum says it's a 50% chance they'd kill instead of save.
So actually that wouldn't work since it constitutes a potential 3 doc saves a night.
Never mind~

Oh, storyteller, I wanted to tell you that your last bluff almost fooled me. So you didn't do terribly or anything.

Hooray, we won!!!

My character didn't quite play out as I was expecting, but I'm glad we did the right thing in the end. To explain, I was very suspicious about Story lie, so I made a scene to set a trap for him, trying to force him into action. It almost backfired, but I was around often enough so I could sound more like someone confused than someone trying to work against everyone else.

Dethy is probably the worst format to lie in ever. Town should never lie in Dethy because it's less of a mafia game and more of a logic puzzle. Neo had the right formula in doing exactly what town should have done, tried to unlock which cop was which.

Story, I think, would have had a better shot if he stuck to the original lie. The better course of action there would be to act as if you had told the truth, then tried to spin heat on to Altimis, who had already admitted to lying. With his revelation that he got a town result back, Story should have been able to see that Alt was the insane cop, as one of the other two would have pulled a scum result if it was them. If Alt wasn't lynched Day 1 (likely due to a no lynch), then he should have been taken out in the night to keep it from being apparent he was the insane cop. If everybody targeted Neo the next night, the other two cops should have come back town check for being sane and naive, Story then could have come back with a scum result, indicating that he was the insane cop and his results would then indicate that Fel was scum. Lead to day 2 Fel lynch and removal of third cop in the next night. Then it's a foot race to victory after that. Easy Peasy.

Of course that is predicated on the fact that death wouldn't reveal sanity, which it shouldn't, and that everybody could stick to a coherant townie plan, which they wouldn't. :P

I think that's why it works in that format, since you are rarely going to get 4 people who all decide that not lying is the best option. If it's just the 5 set roles, and no-lynch is allowed, I don't think there's anyway for mafia to win if town is 100% honest. They just get way too much information.
Adding in not getting info if you investigate the NK target evens it up a bit, but I still don't think it's enough, and that town would still win almost always if they were honest.

If there was a game with 7-8 people, 2 mafia and extra cop roles (like one of each, and 2-3 random ones), I think that would make it MUCH easier, and make it so being honest wouldn't autowin the game.

In fact...I'm wondering if there's enough interest to run a 7-8 person dethy game now...if there is, I'd be happy to run it.

Sorry storyteller! And you saw it too :p

I think if there's another version like this, don't day how many of each sane, insane, paranoid, naive there are. That would definitely help. Also, seeing as we did target a different person, it was one of those REALLY lucky day one starts for town, similar to in my game how mafia had a really lucky night one. It happens, and game length wise stinks when it does, but sometimes it just does.

I had fun. I was leaning towards Aaarrgh at the end, because he jsut kept agreeing with me. I just wanted to find something that he wouldn't agree with, but I can't complain. And I jsut felt that storyteller's I lied too was to copycat-y for me to let go.

Again, I only lied because I though that the mafia was going to try and bandwagon his vote to better hide behing everyone's suspicions of me. It didn't exactly go the way I intended, but again I can't comlain with the result.

I liked it.

So, I've enjoyed the wonky roles in theory, but I wonder what else we could augment. Like a slightly demented version of the game. So far, I'm really only familiar with the cop and doctor roles. What other roles are there that people have found to be fun to play with?
