I wonder if there's a non-english word that is the opposite of solitude...

Because there sure as balls isn't an english word that works. >:(

Damn you abstract concepts and your inability to fit conveniently into our project!
Also damn you Keeper for not sharing the cheese!

Also also, if you want denial/indulgence in, I'm open to it, I just need a pitch for how it fits.

As a serious suggestion, what about multitude? I know it's not as impactful a term, but it might work.

In theory, I could see it working, but it does sort of lose the impact like you said. It sort of whiffs on the meaning we're striving for, but if framed it might suffice. Anybody else have thoughts or suggestions?

Ugh... I just realized that after all this we have to actually work on the character of the gods... which wasn't actually phase II, but simply MORE phase I.

I just thought of this...What if we drop the word "solitude"? What about the god of One and Many?

I've been following most of what's been going on in this thread, and I'm just hopping in to say that I support the everlovin' HECK out of this idea.

See FMA Brotherhood for a myriad of possible inspirations.

I could see us using it, though as equal, we'd have the potential to borrow a little more from FMA and use One/All.
The one hurdle I see in utilizing this is the idea of One/Many not being a scale. Or at least not traditionally a scale. Then again, by the same merit, one doesn't traditionally look at Life/Death as a scale but as absolute opposites.

Of course, also coming off of that, we could have the concept of One/Many and then apply All/Nothing for W/B.
It's not completely neat, but it would be enough for us to move forward if other people felt it worked.

I agree that One/Many doesn't work as a scale, per se, but it does scale to multiple levels (i.e. one person/a community, one kingdom/an alliance, one plane/the multiverse) I actually think there's more room to play around with a one/many dynamic than a one/all dynamic, because I think one/many could still be taken to the extreme of one/all, but not the other way around.

Also, I have to admit I am completely unfamiliar with FMA.

So, I think like we have a decent enough lead to actually begin character work, to hammer out the personality of the gods and in some ways, I have a feeling that it's going to be even more difficult than coming up with the concepts.
For now, while the last 2-3 are still really sketchy, we'll focus on the things that we know are going ahead for sure.
So that gives us the god of Time and the god of Fate.

I think it's easiest to start with Time.
W/R Time.
Kind of a weird concept isn't it?
So, we have a being who understands both Order and Chaos, who has an intrinsic tie to them enough that he can manipulate each.

I have an idea for a card, and I just want to run this by you guys. Think it might give us a jumping off point to develop his/her personality.
If White: Rule of Law
If Red: Mindmoil

As for the static "always on" ability... I got nothing.

For some reason, I see this god as a masculine one.

Well that white ability seems to be a logical touchstone for the steady progression of mechanical time...

How does Mindmoil reflect not just the chaos aspect but the time aspect?

Well, it represents the constant roll of change and how each choice you make closes off aspects of the future.
I also sort of want to say it says something about the cyclical nature of time too. :V

I think the central problem of this character is how to keep him from feeling too blue. I almost wonder if a sort of trickster god archetype might be interesting, since the red side of time seems to be about choices and the white seems to be about consequences and inevitability (though not necessarily mechanically).

... Can there be anything like a solemn trickster?

I love the trickster trope (wrote my undergraduate senior paper on it) and I think the idea of a melancholy trickster is really interesting. I don't know if it would work or not, but it's a very interesting idea.

It sort of inspires an interesting dynamic already in the concept of a god who finds fate to be cruel.
And since fate is another god... that gives us a leg up on working on her/him/it.

Since you have more of a handle on the trickster, do you want to do a little of the brainstorming?

I could get behind a melancholic trickster! That sounds interesting for sure.

I think it works better conceptually than the traditional trickster given the color pairing and pseudo history we're developing here.

... I won't lie, I'm a little disappointed I didn't get any love for the clip.

Well, I think tricksters in general are mostly about subversion, particularly of order or expectation. This leaves us in an interesting position when we're talking about a god of Time, but I think it can probably work. It ties into concepts of inevitability (the continued march of time and its eventual end) as well as 's sense of defiance. Plus which, once he encounters the other gods, I think he might get a perverse kick out of tormenting them, while ultimately realizing he's the same.

[EDIT]: To be honest with you, Barinellos, I almost never click on videos in threads.
