I joined back in 04 i think it was..when d20 modern was a thing..and we had a lighter touch regarding rules about slavery and such due to the nature of the game

WotC forums in the 2003-2008ish area werent too terrible. There were pockets of it I didnt go to especially on the Magic side due to the general behavior there but the D&D side, the play by post areas, the rec room and the few other niche boards I posted in tended to be well behaved and in general very much a community.

Then you were clearly hanging out in the wrong areas. There were a ton of friendly and constructive sub-communities, especially before the 2009 change to the group format. There was normally a plethra of information to be found and people to help, theorycraft, or simply hang out and chat with not only for WotC products but for just about anything.

Towards the later years with the forum changes and the swap from personable WizOs to the new ORC system and stuff things got quite depressing but for almost a decade the community was pretty good. Sorry to hear it wasn't your cup of tea though, maybe you'll get along with NGA better.

I spent quite a few years swinging through the Rec Room both before and after it was split and never had any issues.

Sucks that the community wasn't something that you enjoyed and that it took three years before you figured out that you weren't enjoying it, but it was a good community and quite enjoyable for a lot of people. Like I said welcome to NGA though, I hope you find it more to your liking than you did WotC . Obviously several large portions of the community did move over from those boards to these boards so keep that in mind.

In regards to your signature though: trolling is against the Code Of Conduct here on NGA, so you might want to give that a read through, and the passive aggressiveness of it comes across in quite the negative light

There is no passive-aggressiveness. I was called a "troll" in Magic General here because I posted that I disliked a Magic card. I shouldn't have to explain that this is terrible posting

I joined because despite hating most of the players, I like Magic. Old magic, but Magic nonetheless.

Kings of Spam was a group made after the 2009 Gleemax boards when literally anyone could make a group for anything.
