After debating on whether this belonged here, or in the flavor and storylines forum, I finally settled here. This is my first experiment in Second Person Writing.

I have not read this yet, but I will try to remember to read it. I just wanted to mention that we also have a place specifically for MtG fiction: The Expanded Multiverse. Come over and check it out!

Thanks. I've never actually written anything for the Expanded Multiverse (though I plan to, and have a partially written story Gentev story somewhere in my files). The Expanded Multiverse is primarily for fics that synch up with the actual storyline, making this an extremely ill fit.

Nice work! I think you're hitting the right notes here for a Phyrexia story, and you've certainly got a good sense of the craft overall.

I can't decide whether the second person felt gimmicky, but it certainly wasn't distracting, so that's a good sign. It never made me feel deeply embedded in the story the way I think that technique is meant to, but it wasn't intrusive.

I'm glad you've got plans to write for the M:EM. I'd love to see what you're working on :)

Thanks for the review, Keeper. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Sorry I took as long as I did to get back to this. I only have internet access from wi-fi spots at the moment.

I've been trying a few different stories. One about Gentev rebels, one about an Ameran golem fighter and a couple taking place in Jakkard. When I'll finish any of them, I have no idea, as I seem to be jumping around a lot (too much).

I also saved a lot of the recent stories that have been put out by the Expanded Multiverse to my computer so I can read them at home and catch up on what I missed.

How did you like writing in the second person? I'm normally writing third person for both my creative writing and roleplaying games, though ocassionally the later calls for first person, or second person if you're the DM ... but I've never actually done a writing project in 2nd.

It was fun, if a little difficult in some places.

The style itself isn't too different than 1st person. What was more of a challenge was trying to make the protagonist feel like an actual character with specific skillsets and a history, while still keeping the name, gender, physical characteristics, and in this case, pre-Phyrexian history all unspecified.

Thats what I'd have the most problem with I think.

I could do a pretty decent job of describing something in third person that people could associate with but I think I'd suck at describing something in second person in a way that they feel like its them.
