Exactly. I will add that your overall added Divine caster levels determines how high your domain slots go, so Shugenja + Divine Oracle levels, divided by 2, round up = Domain level.

Alright, so as a Shugenja 7 and a Divine Oracle 2, I will know my 5th level domain spell with the slot to prepare it into, while I will still only have 4th level Shugenja spells.

ceil((7+2)/2) = 5
floor((7+2)/2) = 4

I'll add that to my sheet.

No, no, no, no, your Shugenja spells are into the 5th level, too. :D Check the Divine Oracle class. Every time you level up in the prestige class, you add a spell level in a divine class (which is your Shugenja). With 7 levels and two of Divine Oracle, your 7th level Shugenja knows spells, has spell slots, and casts spells as if they were 9th level. Other things like BAB saving throws, etc don't go up. Instead, you add your BAB and saving throw bonuses, and skill points from two levels of Divine Oracle to those of the Shugenja. But your character is a 9th level caster, and your spells (all of them) reflect that in this case since you're only adding to the one class.

Don't worry, I'll try to look at both yours and Bounty Hunter's sheets tomorrow to confirm the math and ensure you're getting all the benefit you should. Not sure if Tequila has posted a sheet yet, but I'll check. I took the day off today to do stuff with the family.

Everything is tentative to approval, of course. The iffiest thing is blowing 12k gp on a single item. If that's okay, then I'm keeping with the Ioun Stone, otherwise I can switch around items without issue. Working on the rest still.

Just remember Arcane Archer, when you make your incharacter and out of character threads to tag them as such [3E] The Sea Dragon Sets Sail

Thanks in advance.

Yes, but a 9th level Shugenja only knows up to 4th level spells. Like Sorcerer's, they don't get access to 5th level spells until level 10. "Spells Known" casters get access to each spell level 1 caster level later (e.g. Wizards get level 9 spells at level 17, Sorcerers at level 18).

So my sheet is more or less finished, and I completed the 10-Minute Background, just because those are fun. If anything doesn't work with my sheet or character stuff, just let me know and I can correct it.

Read through the ten minute backstory. Two ?s
1. Why is your character all the way across the Trackless Sea in the middle of a continent north of Maztica? NPC Druids are commonly pretty stationary so I'm curious why yours is apparently very mobile. Is he looking for something here? Did he find it?
2. Why is your character looking to join a crew (if something other than simply returning home to Faerun) hunting pirates?

I haven't looked at the other stuff, but these questions generally apply to everyone, and I totally get that you have zilch idea of what I have in this place, so it will be pretty general in nature, and that's fine. If you've already answered these questions largely, thank you.

For the first, I'll say it's where his emotional journey has taken him, for now. He's unsure of himself and how he feels about many things in his world.

For the second, I'd say it's just his natural heroism and a bit of spontaneity to help out on a pirate hunting vessel.

Well, it looks like I did wind up having one further unusual question.

I am trying to figure out what I want for my first level feat, since I switched clans from Crane to Scorpion (and now the ancestral feat I was planning on choosing is invalid). I just acquired some of the Forgotten Realms books listed in the OP (I have very few setting specific books), and have begun perusing them.

In "Magic of Faerun" I came across the feat "Spellfire Wielder" on page 23. This feat is only selectable at level 1, which is the spot I have available, but it requires DM permission. I gave a quick readthrough of Spellfire Magic, and it looks interesting. I also read some of the background of Spellfire wielders themselves, which fits my own character background well.

I would like to know if I would be allowed to choose Spellfire Wielder as a feat, AA. If you'd prefer I not, I have a few other feats at the ready that I can choose at level 1 instead.

So, can I hybridize myself even more? ;)

(Also, I've been adding a bunch of background notes; it's all still in work, but you can look through it if desired. I'll do the 10-min background and answer your two direct questions later. Sheet Link.)

I was wondering which of you guys would be the first to ask!!! :bump: Yes, you may use that. Understand that the history of Spellfire in the Realms leads those exposed to be hunted by the power hungry. You can account for having this ability however you want, though. Maybe you were one of the lucky to stay hidden, maybe you stayed hidden by burying everyone who forced you to use it. Maybe you're on the run because of it. A number of ways to go here.

Bounty Hunter, I am working on your level-by-level post and your skills have prompted a question.
1. When you start, you get (2+Int mod)x4, which in you case is (2+3)x4. You added an extra four. Where did you come up with 24 points?
2. Same idea, 2nd level should be 2+3. You add an additional 1 for a total of six.

So that means without something I didn't account for, your skill distro is heavy. Did I miss something I should be getting somewhere?

HP look good.

Stats look good.

Feats are something I'm still looking at. I'm on my 5th book and still can't find the bloody Improved Turning. Does someone out there know where that is?

I have to go to work, but I'll continue at lunch.

If you've been reading the background notes I've been making on my sheet, I will add my Spellfire ability to the reasons the Yogo family wanted control of Hotei Seido. I will go ahead and say that the Yogo family, as a convenient scapegoat within Scorpion, was working directly on behalf of the Bayushi family (the clan rulers) and the Shosuro family (the courtiers and spies) in order to acquire my gifts via acquisition of the artisanal city. This leaves me with only the Soshi family and the monks of Hotei Seido as my only allies in the Scorpion lands, and as a "deserter" and "dishonorable shugenja" I'm probably not welcome in the lands of the Rokugani Empire as a whole (except maybe the Phoenix clan, since they despise the Scorpion, so if I'm looked down on in Scorpion lands, the Phoenix probably think I did something right). That should give you enough "power hungry" people to work with.

I'll say I first fled to the Crane lands, but even their nobility wanted to entrap me with kind words and sweet bribes. I'll say that's at least how I perceived their words, even if they were actually sincere, having come from Scorpion lands. I then fled to Faerun to the West, picking up my Divine Oracle capabilities during my own contemplations on my voyages. I'm using this voyage north to continue my own travels as I discover more information about "Spellfire" than the Rokugani understood. I'm keeping myself under wraps in general, which I'm good at, given my own illusory powers and abilities to hide/alter self/turn invisible/escape into the deep ocean.

It should be in PHB or in Defenders of the Faith. It might be a PHB 3.5 feat, though.

If you're using the SRD, don't use http://www.d20srd.org/, that's the 3.5 SRD. The 3.0 SRD is at http://www.opengamingfoundation.org/srd.html

Yeah, that works fine, and also nicely covers why you are HERE.

No, I think I was misremembering the other Turning feats that are in DoF. I think Improved Turning might be a 3.5 feat; I edited my post.

Oh, OK, I'm of the opinion that may be the case, too. Found it online in a wiki, referencing a 3.5 SRD, but so far no other luck. Really, that makes sense since the Morninglord is 3.5 himself. I'm willing to take that as good enough, as it's not overpowered.

An Ioun stone is fine. I'm assuming that in nine levels you've found a bunch of stuff, used it up, found other stuff, traded it for stuff you want, etc. This is FR, after all. A couple of questions as I'm looking over your sheet. (I forgot my books at home, so I can't continue working BH's sheet.)
1. Mountain, is the bear traveling with you presently? The ship can handle animals, but is the bear used to eating preserved food like fish, jerky, and hardtack? Also, are you assuming you'll be fishing a lot for fresh fish while sailing, (not like you can't wildshape and go swimming along the ship!) That's OK, just wanted to know how you want to play this. It might make a difference at some point.
2. You have no weapon listed, which makes me think you wildshape for combat. Is that the case?
