Just as a note: Walking Dead Season 2, Episode 3 is now out.

Personally, I prefer to wait until all five episodes are out so I don't have that painful wait between them, so I don't own the game yet. Still, I really wanna play it.

As an experiment I logged steam into online mode and told it to download Skyrim just to see how long it would take.

Mind you this is on the "good" internet at the library not the barely existent internet in the trailers where we live.

Estimated time : 51 Days 17 Hours 43 Minutes

How is it almost half downloaded already then?

Because obviously every 'estimated time remaining' clock ever is based solely on current speed and not on the average. And as visible in the picture the speed goes up and down periodically. ..and at the time of the screenshot had been ramping down for a bit.

Then it's not really 51 days is it? It's more like whenever the internet feels like cooperating.

@slider, And 351 KB/S is about 3 times the average speed of my internet at home if I'm lucky....... That's actually decently fast by my standards.

The Stanley Parable is on sale for $7.49 right now. I really recommend getting this game, if only because of the pure humor in it.

See, that's why I like buying physical copies of games. You don't deal with that crap.

I'll have the game downloaded by the time you get to a relevant store.
And a large number of games need a stable internet connection to play anyways.

I would get this if you still get the specs for tf2.

On my home internet I'll have the game downloaded before you make it to the store... and I'll forever have a perfect digital copy to move from computer to computer without having to put up with a disc and a box.

While deployed, even at the rates I'm getting for download speed... I'd STILL have the game faster than buying a physical copy and waiting on it to be mailed and make it through customs.

I get the people that want the special edition games that come with something nifty in the box, but other than that there is no reason for me to every bother with the barbaric notion of going to a store and paying a higher price for something that takes up room on the shelf and is the exact same as the digital copy.

These are the correct priorities.



If it is a steam game, then once you unlock it on steam you can download it through steam. Same for Origin and all the other proprietary online game store markets. And then I can also download it if for some reason I can't access my internet or whatever.

Also, Skyrim was the same price in store as it was online when it first came out, AND I got a nifty map
