Also a big fan of Butcher's Cleaver out of this section, so you also get some direct praise, Raven.

Excellent! Everybody loves Grisdolf! I smell a sitcom spinoff!

Since I don't think this has been noted yet, I want to mention that, not only is this a handsome product in digital form, it also looks very nice when printed out on dead trees. So bravo again.

Huzzah!

(That's right, I just said "huzzah!" non-ironically. That's how cool this is.)

Looks good. I'm sure we'll get a lot of impressed comments about my sestina... :shifty:

Hey, I learned a new word today! You get to take credit for that, too.

Yeah, "my" is an exceedingly useful first person possessive adjective. Glad I could help! ;)

Personally I'm still impressed with your sestina.

Sestinas, man. Sestinas. :|

Yeah, sometime I'll have to try my hand at a villanelle. I've never written one.

Oh really? I like villanelles a bit better than I like sestinas. They seem a little less forced somehow even though they're probably just as restrictive.

Of course, the fact that "Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night" is one of my all time favorite poems does bias me somewhat.

I'm sure with your head for rhyme you wouldn't have too much trouble keeping it interesting.

Yeah, I quite like Dylan Thomas, but I've just never tried. Maybe I'll give one a shot for my next Raven's Rhymes installment. Which I'm probably overdue for, speaking of which.

By the way, Keeper, I'm still waiting on your "Eliotesque modernist stuff" poem "about Mirri." :D

Oh god I did say I was going to do that didn't I. D:

Excuse me... I just have to-urp-[vomits]

Sorry, that actually had nothing to do with the poem thing, I just have some sort of gross stomach virus and I'm consoling myself by turning it into slapstick.

Also, with this fully released now, Jakkard effectively done, and the Wiki set up now so that it'll be easy for people to drop information in, if I do happen to die horribly from this stomach bug at least I'll have all my major projects here wrapped up except for Sedris Grixis oh god and if I don't finish that Barinellos will drag me back from hell to finish writi-[vomits]

As much as I would prefer to bond over something other than our current shared interest in porcelain worship, I'm just going to offer you a (hygienic!) virtual fist-bump of solidarity and note that being sick is the worst.

Hope you feel a lot better and very soon, sir!

Don't know where you're at, but whatever unpleasantness I've been "enjoying" this week has been making the rounds here on the eastern seaboard. It went through my office like a wildfire, and now I've "gifted" it on to Mrs. OL. It is officially No Fun.

To segue back to the actual topic, it's like something out of a gothic horror anthology!

So, yeah, it turns out villanelle's really aren't all that hard. All you really have to do is come up with two repeatable lines that can work in a couple different ways and work well together, and make sure you pick end-words with a fair number of rhymes. The rest sort of writes itself. By the way, I've written one now. It's over at Raven's Rhymes: Here!

Have I mentioned recently how much I love you guys?

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that villanelles are unlikely to get discussed in any other sphere of my life.

Now watch as several other people in your life mention them over the next few days...

Alright, well, maybe not with this one.

If that happens, I owe you a Coke.
