That shop almost sounds like an insult. "Hey, you friggin' cordwainer!"

Clicks, Ticks, and Bricks

This third business venture of a dwarf named Halswick Brick-Chin (had his name changed from his birth name of Stone-Chin) is situated in a corner building with a carved stone relief mural around the frame of the door advertising their primary trade: architectural design. Nine out of ten customers who enter through their door often seek this dwarf, who has long grown out of his infatuation for the "portable stones", as well as his two apprentices for their expertise in engineering custom home and buildings. His two apprentices are, Nidan Molehands, a male halfling with a crippled knee and quite extensive knowledge of mechanical infrastructures, and Veesk Droscono, a female gnome who brings knowledge of arcane accesorizing to the business. The other one percent are those who for a modest fee seek their help identifying the remains of traps or architectual history so as too better understand lost histories.

(Will probably expand on this some.)

Smoldering Remedies

In a poor part of the city, there is a shop that always seems to have smoke coming out of it known as Smoldering Remedies. Once you go inside, the stench of smoke hangs pungent in the air and even being in there for a few short minutes seems to make you stink as well. Rows upon rows of wooden boxes line the walls with various labels, some clear and others appearing of more exotic text. Inside each box are various mixtures of dried and mixed herbs, roots and other various things. When each one is smoked, they heal different conditions one might encounter in the world. Some are more basic and are narcotic in nature to calm nerves or to help someone sleep, while others boast the ability to purge toxins and other more extreme ailments from the body. The shop also sells a variety of pipes to smoke their remedies with, and they suggest to get a separate pipe for each remedy since combining the residue of each remedy may have unexpected and adverse effects. The shop is run by four sisters, each of which take turns running the shop, gathering supplies from the woods surrounding the town or city, and making trades with travelers for new and exotic plants to make new mixtures with.

Bound by Fate

Something of a local legend, this place is run by an old elven woman who likes everything to be very much in its place. As part of the marriage rituals of the city, couple wishing to be married must visit her and gain her blessing. She hold one hand from each partner and divines their future. It is said that a couple who visits her and gains her blessing will live long and happy lives, while those who do not gain her blessing are not meant to be. Some speculation among the more pragmatic of the city's inhabitants find this to be an unnecessary step, but she is rarely ever wrong.

Caran's Woodworks (and Gambling Den)

Caran is a master woodcarver, who makes the finest furniture and wooden decorations in the area. His shop is a nice and open showroom, where potential customers can peruse the beautiful tables, chairs, and carved animals. Caran also does most of his work out in the shop area, and you often see people just drop in to see him work and talk a bit with the friendly craftsman. Caran usually closes the shop early in the afternoon, to give himself time for a nap before dinner. Because after dinner he opens the back door, which leads down to the large basement, where he runs his secondary business. Caran is very interested in games, and has carved beautiful samples of many of the games that are played in the area, as well as a few of his own design. His basement is open for anyone who wants to play, as long as they are willing to place two silver coins per game. The winner gets his coins back, as well as one of the other player's coins. The last coin goes into Caran's pocket. It is a very simple system, which pads out Caran's income nicely. Of course, if you feel confident, you can also challenge Caran himself for any amount you wish. But be warned, he seldom loses. No one really knows if the den is legal or not, but everyone in the village acts as though it is a complete secret, even though everyone knows about it, and both the captain of the guard and the mayor enjoy an occasional game there.

Fisherman's Friend
Near the docks a small establishment run by sailors for sailors.

In this little shop you can find anything you need to go to a small fishing trip or to prepare for an expedition to the other side of the globe. But for those in the know Fisherman's Friend is more than that, it is a haven in the strict city for all the pirates and corsair's that need a bottle of Rum a warm bosom and a den of serpents in which to relax after a long salty journey.

The owner is a local hero, he singlehandedly stopped an invasion with his crew, so he avoids problems with the local law enforcement.

Ol' Frank, as everyone calls him, is an old tinker gnome rough as can be after a life in the waves. He has a series of different mechanic hooks in place of his right hand. There are legends going around about how he gained his stub. Frank offers a different story every night while swimming in liters of rum. There is also a competition going on. The first one to find out how he gained that stub, out-drinks him and after that asks him nicely using his complete name will have his ship. A legendary feat!

He makes beautiful iron cookware that is known throughout the land as the absolute best. Every one of his items has a reputation as never breaking, never needing to be seasoned, and producing the highest quality of food. No one knows his secret, because he refuses to take on an apprentice, but weekly he gets huge orders in from traveling merchants who want to stock up on his wares to sell to distant cities and townships.
