The 18 is fine, nice to have a buffed score.

SO does anyone know what they want to play? Particularly those newer to the game? I'm willing to play just about anything so I'd prefer to let y'all pick your classes and then just plug any gaps left over. That said;

Spoiler

Final Scores: 17, 15, 15, 12, 11, 8

Hey Squinty mind if I ask if this is going to be another urban adventure? I ask solely because I was looking at cavalier and wanted to know if my 'mount' class feature would effectively be redundant. Thanks.

Edit: Found a workaround. I would still like to know the answer but I can work without it. Incidentally as far as Alternate Race options go would you mind a halfling swapping 'Sure Footed' (+2 Acrobatics/Climb) with 'Outrider' (+2 Handle Animal/Ride)?

Edit Edit: Also you said we can't take the gunslinger class. I assume that extends to alternate class features which provide firearm proficiency? Are there just no guns in your setting is what I'm asking.

I think I'm going to go against my 3e instincts and go with a Human sorcerer, which makes the stats I'd want...

Str 13
Dex 15
Con 15
Int 15
Wis 8
Cha 20 (+2 racial)

Thinking of Fey, Dreamspun, Shadow, or Starsoul bloodlines, which would significantly effect the character based on what I picked, though not so much I can't move forward.

I wasn't able to find it but don't know if that's just me: Is there a feat in Pathfinder to gain a selected skill as a class skill, like "Cosmopolitan" in D&D? I'd kind of like to have access to Diplomacy but sorcerers do not get it by default.

I'd write more, but I'm under a time crunch this morning

Unfortunately to the best of my knowledge there is no feat which makes a skill a class skill. However the whole 'Class Skill / Cross-Class Skill' thing from 3.X has been altered for Pathfinder. While you will miss out of the +3 bonus for having it as a class skill you would still end up with a base modifier of +8 (3 Ranks, +5 Charisma) which is pretty solid for a level 3 character.

@BH I'm thinking maybe a Human Fighter. I like to hit stuff with a big stick.

So this is going to be a super newbie question... What's up with all the dice rolls?

Rolling our stats for Strength, Dexterity, ect. It's an option like point buy or standard array (not an option here though) to make a base to build a character off of.
----------
Also a bit of a background on my character Harruc-Olk:

Born of a city scavenging Orc father and beggar Human mother, Harruc-Olk was not born of the most well to do upbringings. Between barely being able to keep down sewer rat stew (a treat in his family) and early childhood diseases he did not develope into the most hearty or nimble of half-orcs.

He sought the first chance he could to get off of the streets, his oppertunity coming with a group of traveling alchemists who donated their time to providing healing for the less fortunate. After some persuasion he apprenticed under them for several year learning not only the arts of healing, but also dabbling in body altering mutagents in an attempt to better his body.

While contact with his family has been scarce at best since his apprenticeship he still has it in mind to attempt to improve their lives as well, but when money just doesn't want to spend time in Harruc-Olk's coin pouch those kind of goals are just that much harder.

You will be starting out in the city of Aurixvan Svantgrasp, home of Unef Svantgrasp, an Air Mage Tower. While, yes, you will be in a city, it's entirely up to you guys where you go. Feel free to leave the city and explore the wild outdoors. And also, yes, anything related to guns isn't going to have an effect in the world. Mostly because guns just break the feeling of the fantasy to me. Again, as far as a hook goes, I have no idea.

whew. That can be made up for, in theory, with Skill Focus. Getting full ranks is the important part

I have a feeling I'm going to keep tripping over myself like this.

Kalevi Carter
CG Male Human Dreamspun Sorcerer
Deity: Desna?
13; 15; 15; 15; 8; 20
Hit Points: 24 (3d6+6)
Skills: Diplomacy (cc), Knowledge (Arcana), Spellcraft, Sense Motive (Human bonus), all at max ranks (3)
Feats
1: Spell Focus (Enchantment? Call this a maybe, but both my bloodlines are enchantment-ish)
1H: Voice of the Sybil
3: Greater Spell Focus

Languages: Common, Sylvan, Elven
Spells Known: Arcane Mark, Prestidigitation, Touch of Fatigue, Mending, Detect Magic, Magic Missile, Charm Person, Mage Armor, Sleep (B)

background

Still to go: Equipment, Math, Continue Writing down background information.

http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=870013

Edit: Brainwave on background! Going with Dreamspun.
Edit: As a side note, I found Zoogs in the pathfinder bestiary! That's pretty awesome. Too bad they'll only Improved Familiar for chaotic neutrals. And I suppose only Wizards get familiars in PF anyway. And it would be two levels even then.
Edit: oooh... gotta pick where I'm going with FC. I can pick up another skill, or I can get more hp. I'm not sure a 12% gain in hp would be worthwhile, so I'm really tempted to pick up Linguistics. Are languages learned through Linguistics ranks subject to the same limitations as starting bonus languages?

Finished up my character sheet all details picked out. Favored class bonus goes to HP. Way I have him set up he can provide some Melee offense and healing.

Here. If there are any details I need to correct or clarify let me know.

So were looking at an Alchemist, Fighter and a Sorcerer eh? I'll start working on a face, a healer and a second story man and just use whichever one is needed.

Additional - Egad I didn't realize just how hard it is to gear a combat character up with 100gp. Can I ask what the reason for the gold restriction was Squinty? It short changes half the classes and gives a load extra to the other half.

Now, because I'm not sure where to look this sort of thing up -- in D&D, you can hold a 2h weapon in one hand to cast, if you're not actively attacking (hence why wizards can carry quarterstaves). This still hold? I'm trying to pick equipment and need to know if I'm restricted to 1h simple

Yes, it should work fine for that, but it'll depend a little on roleplay. If it's a two-handed sword, and your strength is low, then you'll be putting the blade into the ground to cast, which will dull the blade over time faster. I do watch for these things.

Also, I knew I should have made you guys build characters independently, you're forming one of those "balanced" parties. So much more boring than playing what you want and doing something creative in battle....

I was thinking Boar Spear, actually. Practical weapon, that one. Not sure why I'm caring about weapons though, when I've got a fistfull of magic missiles. Or melee ones, when I have a better Dex than Str...

It's a condition of players to overly arm themselves. The average fighter ends up carrying a two-handed sword, a one-handed mace, three spears across his back, a tower shield despite the two-handed weapon, at least ten daggers on a single belt and a quiver full of bolts with no crossbow because he ran out of space to.... oh, wait, that's slung over a shoulder. And even then, he'll loot bodies asking the DM what weapons they found.

Pah balance is for the weak. I was just using that as an excuse to build multiple characters (and conveniently pass the time). I'll probably just roll a dice or something to decide who I end up playing. Current got;

Rosalin Burrows (Halfling, Bard / Cavalier)
Barnabus Q. Griffonbottom (Dwarf, Inquisitor / Rogue)

Working on a Zen Archer at the moment then some kind of divine caster; probably an Oracle (thinking on a traditional blind prophet).

Maybe there should be a game with a blind build just to see what happens...

I like your style.

Might as well arm up with options.

Items 1.0:
Boar Spear - 5gp, 8lbs (5|8)
Sickle - 6gp, 2lbs (11|10)
10 Darts - 5gp, 5lbs (16|15)
Common Backpack - 2gp, 2lbs (18|17)
Bedroll - .1gp, 5lbs (18.1|22)
Chalk x10 - .1gp (18.2|22)
Chronicler's Kit - 40gp, 4.5lbs (58.2|22.5)
Compass - 10gp, .5lbs (68.2|23)
Crowbar - 2gp, 5lbs (70.2|28)
Flint and Steel - 1gp (71.2|28)
Hooded Lantern - 7gp, 2lbs (78.2|30)
Mess Kit - .2gp, 1lbs (78.4|31)
Oil x10 - 1gp, 10lbs (79.4|41)
Shaving Kit - 1.5gp, .5lbs (80.9|41.5)
Signal Whistle - .8gp (81.7|41.5)
Silk Rope - 10gp, 5lbs (91.7|46.5)
Skillet, Common - .8gp, 4lbs (92.5|50.5)
Waterskin - 1gp, 4lbs (93.5|54.5)
Traveler's Outfit x3 - 3gp, 15lbs (96.5|69.5)
Trail Rations, 6 days - 3gp, 6lbs (99.5|75.5)
Leaves 50cp

I couldn't find a better deal than the BSB, but I was able to dodge its massive weight somewhat. I'm not sure I would have been able to keep it under medium encumbrance without itemizing.
I might cut the Chronicler's kit for some of the individual items and some more useful supplies. and the full 100 starting cp remainder if I can manage.

I have a hard time reading sheets to be honest, but for everyone, I'll leave you with a few reminders:

(1) Don't forget your Favored Class, at each level when you take a level in that favored class, you gain either one extra hit point or an extra skill point. If you are multicalssing, keep an eye on what you're doing.

(2) You also get full hit points, I already saw one player who has a d8 per level but only 21 HP, so that needs to be fixed along with any adjustments to CON and Favored Class.

(3) If you're not familiar with Pathfinder, please note that each skill in blue on the MythWeaver character sheet means that you may not use that skill unless you have specific ranks in it.

(4) If you are playing a spellcaster that requires you to prep spells, while I don't police them, you should have a list and mark off which ones you prep and use.

I also work heavily on the honor system. If you screw something up, just fix it in the game and it's fine. If you do something you shouldn't, I won't usually catch it since cheating in D&D is just kinda stupid.
