The cases come with a ball, but you can certainly use a different one if you want.

Well, that was dumb. I assumed it was a Rattata because I read it somewhere. Can I retcon my posts? Or that would be too much work for little gain?

Well, Garren would have to retcon their post's as well. You could just say that you assumed in game, then didn't actually look at your pokedex until later. Also, Minun doesn't have big teeth.

@Garren To actually get any stats +other stuff, you need to actually capture the pokemon. Also, (in general) your only supposed to have one pokemon out at a time.

I'm up for the retcon if Garren agrees. If it was something like a difference between, lets say, a Pichu and a Minun, I would be ok with playing in the mistake. Rattatas are very different, though, and mixing that up sounds dumb for a son of a Gym Leader.. Up to you, Garren.

Ah fair enough. I knew you could only command a single pokemon in battle (without all the special traits and whatnot) but I figured when your just traveling around the rules were a little more relaxed on the issue - I always assumed it was a logistics thing but I'll find an IC reason to stick to the 1 guy out at a time rule.

I'm good for it. I've been calling it rat and mouse mostly anyway so it isn't a huge amount of work on my part.

Garren's Minun


It's mostly just for travel reasons plus if I suddenly throw an encounter at you "Oh look, all my pokemon are out, I can only actively tell one what to do, but the others can act on their own accord!"

I assure you I would under no circumstance use that excuse to get more attacks in. If such a situation did occur it would usually be 'everyone get behind Tiny! now' more then anything else. Besides I always kinda assumed any pokemon not being ordered to fight would default to 'get out of dodge' rather then rush in and fight.

You mind if I let the minun out for the time being? Seems odd to have that whole discussion with Trevor and then just leave it in its ball.

For the record I'm throwing 2 points into SATK and 1 point into SPD

Ya for now its fine. But as an example, a pokemon with a brave nature wouldn't just stand back while it's trainer was in trouble. Not to mention they get hungrier while out, so you need to feed them more often. But I'm sure it will be fine

Hey Ragrio it isn't much but I was able to throw something together for a battle map. I don't know if the terrain or positions were what you wanted but it should serve it purpose. Anyone can edit is so feel free to move stuff around if you want. Obviously you'll have to put people and 'mons hit points in as I don;t have that information. If you want to use it it's yours. Hope I'm not overstepping my bounds or anything.

Yeah sure. I'm not promising they'll be great but I'll always be willing to throw something together. The more information you give me in advance the more accurate I can make it - especially useful if you need special arenas built for a gym leader or something.

Oh yeah just because it's going to be important the second Tiny's turn rolls round I was thinking of displaying elevation with a +/- number system. So if Tiny was burrowing 3 squares under the ground on the map it would say 'Tiny (-3)'. Likewise if a creature if flying it could be displayed with 'Pidgey (+4)' if it was 4 squares of the ground. Just something to think about since 3D movement if almost certainly going to be a thing.

I hate to be a rules lawyer but I was reading the rules for combat as a refresher and something came up about Fel's turn. Unless the information in the wiki is wrong using a pokedex is a free action - though he won't receive any information about his opponent until 3 rounds later. The rules for Pokedex use can be found here;

Man, those things hit hard. You said Daimon looks ill, but he looks quite dead to me. 13+12+14 means 39 damage, way over his hp (23). What happens now?

EDIT: Also, Hawkbeak, just a heads-up, man: Spinarak only takes 1/4 of the damage of a Fighting type move like Brick Break.

He is just unconscious. They don't need to make death saving throws until -100% Hp. But ya, damage can get pretty ridiculous in this game, so fighting lots of pokemon on one usually ends pretty badly
