Any poster that has a work in the archive is considered a full M:EMber and has the ability to both vote in and create voting threads for different works and initiatives. Non-voting M:EMbers may request a work be put up for vote in the [link]Vote Request Thread[/link].

Votes pass by simple majority of Yea votes over Nay and Not As Is votes. In the event of a tie the vote passes or fails according to which way the M:EMperor voted.

Not As Is votes are Nay votes that can be changed to Yea votes when the author meets certain criteria, to be listed by the voter.

Authors of works should abstain from voting for their own submissions. However, works created collaboratively by a majority of voting M:EMbers are automatically considered to be endorsed by those M:EMbers, and the piece can be entered in the Archives without a vote if those working on it decide by a majority that the project is finished.

A voting thread should include the following information:
1) Title of the project
2) List of authors involved
3) A link to or copy of project
4) Note(s) on status of project, should it be accepted (Public, Private, etc.)
5) A title with the [Voting] tag, as well as at least one other appropriate tag to identify the project. Such tags can be [Plane], [Character], [Planeswalker], [Story], [Poetry], etc., as well as what character or plane a story ties in to.

Welcome to the Voting thread, where the members of the M:EM vote on matters of what to include or remove from the canon.


When in this forum please abide by the following rules:

1) Only the Speaker, the Overlord, and those given permission by the Overlord may make voting threads in this forum. Any thread created by anyone else will be deleted. If you want to bring a matter up for a vote, put it in the voting request thread, and the Speaker will bring it up to vote at his or her own descretion.

2) Voting is based on the tally method. Voters are expected to copy the previous tally and make their declarations clear.

3) Voters can vote, Yay, Nay, Abstain, Present, or Not as is.

Yay is a vote in favor of the matter.

Nay is a vote against the matter.

Present is a vote of neutrality.

A vote of “not as is” must be accompanied by a list of changes. Only after these changes are made does your vote become Yay.

An Author of a work must abstain from voting.

4) Anyone who is listed as an author on a work must abstain from voting to prevent conflict of interest. Those who helped with the project, but not enough to be considered an author may vote how they wish.

5) In order for a project to be a valid vote the following information is needed:
The name of the project with appropriate voting tag (see bottom).
A full list of authors.
A link to the work, or a copy of the work if it's short enough.
A note on what it's status will be if accepted if it isn't public (all works are assumed to be public unless stated otherwise)

6) Voting threads will be closed after three days or more of in-activity at the discretion of the Speaker. Threads may also be closed if it has been three days since a vote was made in that thread. Only the Speaker may call an end to voting.

7) For a work to come up for voting, a majority of its authors must agree that the work is up to Magic: Extended Multiverse standards and that they would accept it into canon if able to vote for it. If a minority of authors do not agree, they are still listed, but are allowed to vote not as is in the vote. (Place the desenters last, and make a note of them)

8) If a voting majority are listed as non-desenting authors on a work, that work is automatically accepted into canon.

9) In case of a tie between Yays and Nays, the Overlord's vote will be used as a tie breaker. If the work had any votes of Not as is, this rule is ignored.

10) A work that fails to become accepted can be resubmmited for voting a week after it's voting thread closes.

11) When a person resubmits a work for voting, it must be accompanied by a list of changes made to the work. The changes must be substantial enough to warrant a revote. Unaltered work won't be voted on. Because of this only the Speaker can create threads for resubmitted work.

* Voting tags are the tags inside [] on the title of voting threads. The most common ones are [Planar vote], [Prose vote] [Peotry vote], [Character vote], [Art vote].... use the most appropriate one you can find. Also if the work pretains to an already establisihed plane or character, you can add a tag for that in the title, but it's not nessisary
