I don't think so...

Actually, from a mathematical standpoint, if we stay and fight we will all die. Basically, assuming these guys have at least 30hp (since the only one we've damaged is alive at 29), we have to deal 91 damage OR MORE for this battle to end.

We're averaging maybe 10 damage on a good turn, which means we'll need at least eight or nine or more turns to win. However, we're down a player, and these guys are getting a damage bonus above level one monsters (+5 for a melee attack, which is like a level three bonus), so it's safe to say we're outclassed and outmatched here. They're hitting us more, and harder, than we are hitting them. Time to run. I mean, I just took 9 damage off an average-ish attack roll. That's a third of my life!

In future battles, we should not run into the fray until we know what we're facing :)

I will update the game later, but I assure you these guys are level one, but they do heavy damage and they gain bonus damage for combat advantage.

After chapter 1, normally you will be fighting fights one level higher than the party, but for fights with bosses that are normally two levels higher. There are a lot of magical items to help, though.

+5 damage means they're dealing about 8.5 damage an attack, or 11 damage if they have combat advantage. They're currently averaging 17.75 damage per round, which means every two rounds someone dies. I know that's elevated from the 17 damage from the critical attack, but make that a successful normal attack of 11.5 damage, and you still end up with 16.25 damage per round, or someone dying every 2 rounds. We've done about 45 damage across four turns, or about 10 damage a turn, and have a harder time hitting them, have less life, and had to kill minions. This may have been a too-difficult battle to begin with.

Granted, charging into the fray isn't the best way to fight a group of rogues, but I think Du'Tok knows that now. We're also rolling poorly, but that might have to do with what we're rolling against as well. (AC, Ref, etc.)

Not a good idea, I agree. There is other problem to consider, the goblins's abilities almost completely negate the warden's powers, but a fighter would have wrecked them very easily.

Rstnme, you need to explain your feat to me (invoker defense). I am not understanding it.

If I hit with an enemy within three squares of me with a divine power, which is all of them, I get +2 to ac until end of my next turn.

High enough to doesn't suffer damage from this attack, but real close.

Those goblins have good reflexes, but let's see how their will fares.

So...I'm dying, so, I'm guessing the only thing I can do is make a saving throw, right?

@Neosilk

You can make a saving throw against death. You could still use Font of Life to remove status effects that were active upon Dutok, like ongoing damage, but not as saving throw against death.

@Everyone

You need to play better if this party wants to stay alive. I could attack Marek with so many attacks with combat advantage that I could kill him easily. But I will give a spoon of tea (this expression probably has no meaning in English) for you, I will make a lot of bad plays this turn.

Not familiar with the saying, but can guess its meaning the way you used it. A bit of advice, is what it means?

Anyways have my next move planned out. We need to avoid getting flanked and we can use rough terrain to our advantage here. Shifting 1 square into a rough terrain doesn't work. You need to shift two or have an ability or feat that allows you to.

Hopefully I can actually hit with this next attack.

Giving a spoon of tea is an expression here in Brazil that means TB will take it easy on us this time.

Yeah! I found some equivalent expression later like "cut some slack" or "give a break".

Also if I can offer some advice, without a healer, it is a bad idea to run into fights straight on. I think this party needs to stay grounded and let the ranged attackers strike first, and only then move for the kill.

:bored:

Well there goes that encounter power.

It's fine to say we need to play better, but you have to admit this encounter is incredibly difficult.

Yeah - I think that's mostly me - I'm still getting used to this whole thing - I'll talk more about what I want to do (assuming Du'tok manages to live) before just rushing in!

@Rstnme

You will be hit by your own attack and suffer 2 opportunity attacks, are you sure?

@Everyone

The problem was lack of a better strategy and an incredible stream of bad rolls. I will create an end for this encounter to save this party from certain death, but you will not gain XP for it. Everyone agrees?

Yeah, I wasn't thinking. I think I'm still under the weather. It makes more sense to shift to J5 and try to bonk GC2 with my staff again. If that's fine with you, that is :)

Yeah, I'd rather the first encounter not end with us losing over half our party.

Still, a couple of good attacks and we can narrow this down to 2 goblins versus 3 beat up heroes. Also, my character is in worse shape than you have it on the map. I should be at 9 out of 29 HP based on my math. Still bloodied though.
