You get your starting allotment of spells and two additional spells each time you level up. In addition any scrolls you purchase you can add straight to your spell book without having to make any of the normal checks to record them. So yeah you can have as many additional spells as you wish to spent money on.

is there anything stopping me from casting, say, a level 9 spell, other than the fact that I don't have a level 9 spell slot? I mean, if I get a level 9 scroll, can I cast it?

You can attempt to cast a higher level spell than you could normally cast from a scroll but to do so you must make a caster level check (DC = Scroll's Caster Level + 1). So in effect you would have to roll (1d20 + your Caster Level) to beat a DC of 18 to cast a level 9 spell.

Also in addition you would have to be able to read the scroll. That's a Spellcraft check to beat the DC (20 + spell level) of the scroll or you can cast the read magic spell to skip the need for the check.

But, even if I can't quite cast it properly, if I buy a level 9 scroll right now, pre-game, I get to auto-add it to my spellbook...right?

*itching to buy time stop...*

...you know you can just wait until you hit level 17 and it to your spell book automatically during level-up?

To answer the question; you can scribe any scroll into your spellbook by spending an out studying the scroll then making a Spellcraft check (DC 15 + spell's level). Of course this being character creation I'd allow you to just learn it without the need for a check.

So yes you can buy and record 'Time Stop' if you so wish.

Soooo I can totally re-flavour Disintegrate spell as "so I go back in time and kill your parents before you were born and then jump back to the present to see you fade into dust" right? XD

Or aging them to the point that they simply collapse into a pile of dust. Either is good for me.

I'm keeping the rest of my money to spend on spell components

other then my familiar, which i have yet to stat out, and my cohort, which you have yet to stat out, and my boon, which you have yet to give me, I believe I am pretty much done.

Well firstly those scroll in your infantry would have been consumed when you scribed them into your spell book (unless you purchased two copies of each?).

Secondly your equipment list seems really sparse. I mean I haven't done the math or anything but I can't imagine a dozen scrolls and a belt comes up to 46000gp. Even keeping back gold for spell components shouldn't leave your that thin on gear. At the very least you'll want to pick up a Spell Component Pouch so you can actually cast spells.
