Heroes are a linear strategy. Ideally, you want every card to be a hero, or to trigger one. Excoriate does neither. Our first pick is wasted outside a heroic deck. There will be packs where we won't be able to pick a hero or an enabler, but while we can, we should pick them. It may not work, depending on what our neighbors are drafting, and we may need to go three colors.

Alternatively, we can just draft a pile of good cards and hope here will be a deck in there.

Not if it's aggro. Then you just turn creatures sideways and use combat tricks to kill anything that dares to block. Removal just gets in the way of killing your opponent. If a white heroic players has the mana and time to play Divine Verdict, something went wrong somewhere.

I haven't much experience with green heroes, but white are aggressive and need to attack, since otherwise they get outclassed. And our green is a one-drop that fits into an aggro strategy, and needs cheap tricks to be relevant. That green devotion pump spell somebody suggested is ideal.

This one is much harder. I'm for the Fall. It's removal that triggers our heroes.

I agree about not needing removal in a heroic deck... just like to hedge the first few picks.
Fall pretty much is the best heroic enabler though... In THS it was harder to get good enabler than heroes (beyond the bomby ones).

I think I continue to hedge and take a fall. But maybe this is why my draft decks are mediocre.

Take the best card in the pack through like pick 4.. and by then a pattern should emerge.

Fall of the Hammer.

I wouldnt be sad to go heavy GR and splash white for excoriate.

Fall for sure. With some extra mana, fall works amazingly with our first pick hero. How big is your creature?

I don't want to take a Red card after passing all that quality Red. Signaling is very important in a Set with a low number of playables like BNG.

Skirmisher.

It's almost impossible to read signals via the first two picks, beyond, "Oh they took a rare."

Hate this pack. No bomb, no good removal... no evasion for us... so its just extra crap. And that makes it between Shieldmade and Centaur.

Nyxborn Shieldmate I guess.

That kraken sounds like a bigot to me.

I'll take that shieldmate.

Centaur. White seems not as good when we are not expecting phalanx/hoplite/wingsteed in packs 2-3.

But white's bestow cards are pretty tasty. Granted so far we only have Tower Hero. I say shieldmate.
