Hi, i m trying to update my old golgari singleton deck.
I expect to see some rats and petitioners deck. I put Gaea's Blessing vs petitioners and i think it can work well with Underrealm Lich (if it works).
vs rats, i don't know if this deck can do something.
I put Helm of the Host only because i think it's fun and maybe it can do something with eob creatures. It s maybe a "win more" card.
I m thinking to include a -2/-2 sweeper.

If I run Golgari, I'll base it on my old list, except I'll splash Blue for Hydroid Krasis as well as maybe Hostage Taker.
Not sure whether any mono-coloured RNA cards would make the cut though.

Anyway, currently I'm running something completely different to see which cards are good in that archetype. This approach has served as my Standard let-in for Golgari and I hope it'll be my Standard let-in for the other archetype as well.

You might strike the "maybe" on Hostage Taker. It's already great in Sultai as a 1- or 2-of so it should be a natural inclusion in a format where you jam as much value as possible.

But how do you - as our resident mana base guru - build the mana for 3 colors in Singleton? Run all the tap-lands instead of the rare duals #2-4?

That's why there's that 'maybe' with Hostage Taker. If I don't run it, I might get away with replacing a few Forests and Swamps with the rare UB/UG duals and run a single Island for Evolving Wilds/Field of Ruin/District Guide. If I do run it, I need a few more U sources; thus might have to start including Gates. That said, it is quite likely that Hostage Taker is good enough to justify that; especially given that Green provides additional fixing.

3-colour manabases are tricky to figure out in Singleton. Green has the easiest time because they can run additional fixers like District Guide, Open the Gates and the likes. If you want to run 3-colour without Green your best best is something like:

12 Duals (Shocklands, Checklands, Gates, tapped Duals; roughly in order of importance)
Evolving Wilds
Gateway Plaza
Rupture Spire
plus the Basics you want. This gives you 11+#Basics sources of each colour - not great but about the best you can do. There's some cards that still can provide additional fixing, but overall this also means that you may not be able to cast cards with heavy mana requirements like Mass Manipulation or Frilled Mystic reliably in 3-colour singleton decks, so you should think twice whether you really need them or whether you can replace them well enough.

Updated my Golgari a bit with RNA. I still like (and is still working very well) the more Saps centered approach. They add early aggression (abet small) and sac outlets. Didn't add a lot from RNA because I was so comfortable with how it played to begin with but some of the cards I subbed in were strictly better than the once they replaced.
Slimefoot and 5 Sap tokens with the op at 5 life won me a game last night. It was do or don't, you lose regardless.

I mulled quite a bit about the Blue splash. I fairly quickly figured out I wanted Hostage Taker and I could afford it with just Guildgates (and Foul Orchard, but that was in my straight Golgari deck anyway). I actually thought about running a third off-colour card, but neither of the three candidates I considered - Discovery // Dispersal, Thief of Sanity, Muldrotha - I felt comfortable extending it for. In the end I decided to run Memorial to Genius to add more utility to my land slot.

Other than that, I just took my most recent Golgari version, took out Druid of the Cowl for Incubation Druid and made 3 cuts (Twillight Prophet, Price of Fame and Golgari Locket) for Open the Gates, Hostage Taker and Krasis.

Lost a few games to mana, you can't operate on 3 so maybe there should be more mana. Last two runs were Ghaltas though, so I guess it's fine. I think Gaea's Blessing is the better anti-petitioner tech because it's more likely to have it dumped into the yard as part of the mill 12 than to draw Sorcerous Spyglass. That being said, I only encountered them once.
