Anyone have some Pauper decks they would like to share here?
I'm already seeing interest on Discord so I'd like to send them here for ideas.
I have nothing at the moment but it doesn't start for a few days anyway.

Edit: Never mind my message, I was confusing Singleton with Pauper! Time to brew more coffee...

Well, I tried to brew some Boros based on successful GRN Drafts:

2 x Ghitu Lavarunner
10 x Mountain
10 x Plains
2 x Cavalry Drillmaster
4 x Goblin Instigator
4 x Shock
4 x Viashino Pyromancer
4 x Healer's Hawk
4 x Hunted Witness
4 x Cosmotronic Wave
4 x Wojek Bodyguard
4 x Skyknight Legionnaire
2 x Vernadi Shieldmate
2 x Boros Guildgate

The plan is simple:
Get some fast damage in while you can and alpha with Cosmo Wave. This should never lose to rats because every card either makes at least one body or kills at least one rat. It suffers from the same weakness as rats though. Cards like Mephitic Vapors or even Fungal Infection are disastrous and I expect to see them a lot. If those become too prevalent, the 1-toughness creatures need to go.

I would like to add a combat trick and I think Run Amok is the premier choice (over Sure Strike) because it gets damage through and cases were Sure Strike saves your creature but Run Amok doesn't shouldn't be too prevalent. Pretty much only Deathtouch.

The problem is, it was hard enough to cut the last creatures.. No Ornery Goblin or Fresh-Faced Recruit and only 2 of several others. I would run 4 Drillmasters but I only have 2.

edit: Turbo, this is not Singleton, there is no last time in the GRN era and I'm pretty sure Golgari wasn't a factor before. And I don't think it will be now in Pauper.

RDW and Dimir Midrange seem like the safest bets.

So, the first evening is in the books and it wasn't too bad. Merfolk Insta Ban it is certainly not, but I finished 22-12.

My worst matchup is mono white Voltron, which is apparently not held in check by rats for it should have no chance against them. For me, a 1/3 Lifelink is already out of Shock range and with 3++ auras on it, forget about it. But those games are ok. What's rather hateable are those decks, mostly Izzet, that just nix anything I do for the first 15 or so turns. 4 such losses clocked at > 9 minutes each, record being 15 minutes.

edit: Forgot changes to the deck after the first runs: +3 Run Amok, +1 Vernadi Shieldmate, -4 Goblin Instigator. The double goblin turned out the worst 2-drop for there simply are no rats. Having multiple bodies doesn't help much without anthems.

I played around a bit with a decent but not very good Boros deck. Then I got utterly destroyed by a Dimir deck with fliers. Nice, time to take some notes and make that deck myself! Went 5-1 with the resulting deck, only lost to a hexproof-aura deck, which is insane and will be my next project. Anyway the Dimir deck is here, if anyone wants to try it. It feels very solid, also has no problem with beating rats or any other aggro for that matter.

4 Watcher in the Mist (GRN) 59
4 Cloudreader Sphinx (DAR) 47
4 Sailor of Means (XLN) 73
4 Blink of an Eye (DAR) 46
4 Vicious Offering (DAR) 110
4 Dusk Legion Zealot (RIX) 70
4 Moment of Craving (RIX) 79
4 Opt (DAR) 60
4 Artful Takedown (GRN) 151
4 Dimir Guildgate (GRN) 245
10 Island (M19) 268
10 Swamp (M19) 271

Yes, that makes sense. Survive early with all the cheap black removal and then play 2 playsets of the Sphinx - without bigger flyers showing up anytime soon.

I'd need 15 wildcards for this, so I'm going to pass for now.

Well yes, Dimir is stronger and it's eeeeeverywhere and these mirrors are such a snoozefest.

Is there a way to hate on Dimir? To punish it and win fast? Otherwise I guess I'm done for this weekend..

I slightly updated the list and ran twice more to 5-x. So far haven't seen any consistent threat that would beat it most of the time, but I'm sure it's possible though (but likely hard if you lack wildcards).

I made an azorius flyers/lifegain/
auras deck that has been doing ok, but recently the hexproof aura decks have been wrecking me because my removal suite just becomes useless.
Good results against most of the other archetypes I've played (when I don't just flood out).

**Creature Spells: (6)**
4 x Healer's Hawk
4 x Hunted Witness
2 x Mesa Unicorn
2 x Parhelion Patrol
4 x Silverbeak Griffin
3 x Star-Crowned Stag

**Non-creature Spells: (7)**
3 x Charge
4 x Divination
1 x Gideon's Reproach
3 x Knight's Pledge
4 x Luminous Bonds
3 x One With the Wind
1 x Righteous Blow

**Lands: (3)**
3 x Island
4 x Meandering River
15 x Plains

Only solution to the hexproof Voltron decks I can see is a selective blink of an eye on one of the auras so that you can kill it with an unexpected block, but blink with kicker is very harsh with this mana base, even if it would probably fit as a good tempo card.

The deck's game plan is simple, get down early flying creatures, beef them up with auras, remove anything that can block them and use lifelink to keep you ahead of the race.

Why Mesa Unicorn over say Bishops Soldier? Flavor?
Edit: I'm guessing that's just what you had. I've got four BS from my initial mono white. It was the first color I started looking at to make a decent pauper out of since I see a lifegain Voltron deck being really good in the format.
BTW.... we have a hexproof common floating around people are using????
I don't study every card in every set until I feel like brewing and then only a certain subset usually.

I've got mine built and wouldn't you know it, it looks a lot like yours. Pauper makes a few constraints on ya I see now. First time playing it. I am going to try some blinking if I see what you mentioned about hexproof voltron. Wise maybe to start out that way. Hmmmm

Nevermind..........it's the Turtle.
Ran into it in my first game.
Of course I would.

The turtles and the hexproof merfolk tokens from that green 2/2. Pain in the butt.

Not much on Merfolk myself but I must confess that after a few beatdowns I put a couple of turtles in mine. Best last night though was winning a game with two flying, pledged Witnesses.

And then you go

Healer's Hawk - Fungal Infection
Bishop's Soldier - Moment of Craving
repeat all
Parhelion Patrol - kicked Vicious Offering (remember the t1 Saproling)

and goooood luck winning a lategame :( (as much as I'd like to)

Oh yah, I've seen a lot of common removal against this deck, red mostly. Lots and lots of red decks. Shock and Goblins.
It's still pretty strong and has got me two 5/2's so far. I do like these events as I seem to get real quality rares from wins.
Edit: And all things being equal, if you can land a turtle and you have a few enchants you've been saving for it, it's pretty much GG.

I tried GB sacrifice, it felt ok for something built mostly from the base GB started deck.

List was something like

fungal infections,dead weighs.
Saproling migrations, doomed travellers, bulglar rats, ironshell beetle, vicious offerings, whatever the new altar reap is called.
The thallid that leaves behind a saproling, a bunch of soul salvages.
And a couple of rizhome lurches to top the curve.

I don't think is top tier, but for just requiring a couple of wildcards for the plunges it performed decently.
