When Hour of Devastation was added to Arena i had no doubt about what to try first: the Scarab Gob. But this is another story. Here's the deck (at least what i could build without having only one deck) i'm really enjoying so far. I'm going to torment my opponent until the victory. Torment you, go 4 x Duress 2 x Baffling End 4 x Dusk Legion Zealot 4 x Moment of Craving 1 x Walk the Plank 1 x Torment of Hailfire 1 x Treasure Map 2 x Doomfall 2 x Golden Demise 1 x Reaver Ambush 1 x Profane Procession 2 x Ixalan's Binding 1 x Cast Out 2 x Ravenous Chupacabra 1 x Vraska's Contempt 3 x Torment of Scarabs 1 x Razaketh's Rite 1 x Start // Finish 1 x Cruel Reality 7 x Plains 10 x Swamp 4 x Forsaken Sanctuary 2 x Ifnir Deadlands 1 x Field of Ruin 1 x Arch of Orazca BW control with a tormenting taste. Well setup against creature decks, good against aggro if your starting hand doesn't suck, it performed surprisingly well against blue counter decks, that is basically the bad matchup for BW control. But discard help a lot and torment spells destroy control. Duress is a meta call, well actually i was starting an analysis about all the single choices of the cards, but there is not really a choice. So many things have to be changed, cards that i don't need, cards too expensive and inefficient, need multiple copies of some important cards for efficiency. I will try to update the list while i get the new cards. Not sure which is the ideal list, not even sure if it is orzhov or monoblack. Btw the deck is lot of fun. |

Looks pretty good actually, I've got a pet side protect with control and those torment cards would be great additions. Still looks to me kind of Light on win-cons. I had a deck pre-wipe that was pretty good. I'd recommend a big nasty zetalpa. Profane Procession was a cool way to protect my win-cons in my pre-wipe deck. |

For sure i need more consistency, easy examples are the full playset of Treasure Map and other 2 copies of Hailfire. I'm also interested in trying Azor's Gateway, but you know, a mythic, how can i possibly use a mythic WC on a card just to try it? Yeah the system to acquire cards is not flawed at all. Anyway the wincons seem enough for now, 1 Hailfire, 2 Scarabs, 1 Tutor, 1 Reality, 1 Procession. I also can tell you that Hailfire is the only one i need, people don't expect it. After you made them discard a bunch of cards, removed most of the permanents, attacked the life total with Zealots (that they don't really care about until they reach 10 or so) you don't even need a big Hailfire to win. Also -1 Walk the Plank, -1 Angel, +1 Zealot, +1 Chupacabra. |

Since I play mono-red, I love it when opps play zealots. I get to do 1 damage for free! |
