At that point you’d put at least a banefire in the SB. I might not go so heavily into black as you suggest, opting instead to take advantage of some of the elf mana abilities. I still want to run steel leaf in the deck if at all possible. In fact some of the cards you mentioned might also make sense in the side board instead.

Marwyn doesn't have Reach. For reasons. Yeah she has a bow. Can't use it, because a kid is cramping her style. Don't have kids, ppl.

I dunno... Marwyn gets stronger every time she has a child. She may not have reach, but there's still something positive coming out of it.

Is steel leaf always a T2 play?

The odds of drawing a lanowar in the opening hand is about 40%, so you'll usually see it every 2.5 games. I'm horribly rusty but I think the chance of having a steel leaf in the opener+draw is ~45%.

So no, Steel Leaf is not usually a turn 2 play and you could easily play a bo3 and never land it. But it's not super rare either, it'll happen reasonably often.
