So, with the results of the MC III in we can perhaps draw a few conclusions:

Esper Hero/control was by far the most predominant archetype.

Simic nexus beat Esper Hero. Therefore, these would seem to be our two best decks in the format.

But are they? It seems like control/midrange decks have the edge in the current meta, with only one aggro deck placing in the top 4. Narset, time raveler and Hero of Dominaria, often in conjunction seem pretty dominant in both shutting off opponents' cards while giving you more looks into your deck.

I think these two decks are the most powerful, with Simic Nexus being the slightly better of the two. However, I'm willing to be proved wrong. Use this thread to vote and discuss. Furthermore, we can use this thread for future rotations to continue trying to identify the "best deck."

Esper Control

This Standard is quite balanced, and on any given day any deck can win a tournament. The Mythic Championship was just such an example. Nexus does abstractly powerful things, but it's easy to hate out. Since it's easy to hate out, its metagame share plummets. Since its metagame share plummets, people start trimming back on hate. And since people trimmed on hate, Nexus comes back to win a tournament.

Esper hero is probably "best" deck in the format. I say "best" because it's the hardest deck to hate out, and it has game against everything, but you can still only prepare for so many opposing decks, and on any given day you could miss and another become the "best" in the room.

yeah but you keep saying that since Duels...

ATM this week is Esper hero... or Esper control swapping Hero for Wrath... its about the same deck TBH.
I keep winning with my Azorius PWs, but it is not the best deck by any means... it just prays on Esper, Gruul is on the fall same as Mass Manipulation... WW never took off and RDW will always be around the corner.

Nexus is dead for a month or so IMO
