Submission deadline: 6th of March.

So let's kick this off with a spicy build around card that has so many applications that Timmy, Johnny and Mr Spike all want them in their decks!

Be creative, submit your brews and we'll find a distinguished panel of judges to put your jank to the test.

Rules:
1. Break-a-contest brews must play all 4 copies of the chosen card.
2. Final lists must be sent to me by private message before the deadline. Want to make a change? Sure, just make sure to be clear about which is the final one.
3. Want to be a judge? Be prepared to blow some WCs on jank, because you can't judge a list without playing it.
4. Have fun!
5. The winner gets to choose the card for the next contest.
6. I'll leave judging criteria to each judge to choose (although clarification by the judges is welcome). All I need is that you order submitted lists from best to worst.
7. Participants can also be judges. Just use common sense and be fair when judging your own lists.
8. The winner will be the list with the highest classification (points awarded from 1 to however many lists are submitted, from last to first)
9. In case of a tie, the winning lists will actually play against each other to determine the winner.


For now, this thread is just to see if there's enough interest to make this happen, so be my guest and comment with any and all your suggestions and ideas. No deadlines yet, when I see there is enough people participating, I'll give you a date.

I'll try to define what we mean by breaking a card:

Breaking a card signifies getting maximum value out of it's interactions. This does not necessarily mean making the most hyper competitive deck possible that uses the card (although that is one way to break it), it can be used to create absurd, over-the-top board states, silly otherwise unplayable combos, win out of nowhere interactions and generally make Johnny's wildest dreams come true.

Let's look at wilderness reclamation with this in mind: it interacts with lands. So using special lands like azcanta is one approach. It let's you generate lots of mana to use at instant speed, so big mana instants are another path. It's an enchantment, so enchantments matter.dec is a possibility.
Think outside the box.
Extra points for making absurd/ridiculous combos (that nobody's thought of) actually work.
Points deducted for lack of originality.
Submit a list of you think it's got what it takes to break a broken card!

Be interesting to see if anyone comes up with something more broken than the go to Nexus or Expansion/Explosion. There doesn't seem to be much to do in standard with infinite mana that can compete with Explosion in particular. Azor's Gateway is glacially slow in comparison to wilderness, so while adding it in like the old jeskai decks did would be fun, it's probably a downgrade to the deck as a whole.

If there was one of the opponent loses life when you gain it effects in standard then Sanguine Sacrament might be interesting.

I guess there's March of the multitudes into gruesome fate, to do half of what Explosion does at a higher cost and over 2 turns :D

Here's my entry to the fray - Wilderdapt FamSlimear!

4x Wilderness reclamation
3x Slimefoot, the stowaway
4x biogenic ooze
4x incubation druid
4x Biomancer's familiar
4x Growth-Chamber Guardian
4x llanowar elves
3x Hydroid Krasis
2x Find // Finality
2x Zegana, utopian speaker
2x Lazav, the multifarious
1x Muldrotha, the gravetide

23 land (all gold lands, and some basics, like every mana base in this standard until rotation)

Idea of the deck is pretty straightforward, we're built around getting max value with reclamation by making our activated abilities cheap as hell with biomancer's familiar, and just overwhelming our opponents.

Slimefoot, the stowaway + familiar lets you make a saproling for 2 mana which obviously gets out of hand fast, and the Adapt chain of growth chamber is no joke either.

Other payoff is the biogenic ooze, again it must be dealt with or it dies, and with all the mana we are generating in this deck it would be rude not to include at least a few Krasis for da value.

Find // finality is just there so i have a rebuke for when people try to point out we can't beat aggro.


And finally the last bit of spice being the Lazav's and Muldrotha, to get us extra copies of our payoffs and grind more into the late game!

This deck is clearly broken, any criticism is just wrong, can't wait till i win this round!

Started theory crafting a deck using Multitudes+Chance for Glory to go off on your end-step and surprise kill them on the bonus turn with some mixture of a swing/gruesome fate/Thud'ing the gw legend that gets +1/+1 for each creature. But I don't have a fair amount of the needed cards to make the deck and I'd feel bad suggesting a fever dream that hadn't been tried out or tuned at all. In theory it's "better" than explosion since you need far less mana to kill (but more cards! Needing more cards isn't a cost right?! And four colours is pretty much free, we all know that).


Another idea I had, much less fleshed out, is using Electrodominance to flash in Thousand Year Storm and then kill them. There's no way I'm even considering crafting any TYS though, so that's as far as I got with it :D It also needs quite a lot of mana even considering the wilderness untap.

This version took me though the last steps of the Gold chunk of the B03 ladder. I started yesterday on Gold 4 -I have not played B03 since the new season begun- and the deck has faced a lot of games.

At one point it had 80+ % win rate but now its closer to 60%

RDW is a pain and thats why we have 4 cheap removal spells on the SB, WWs or other fast aggro piles are problematic, but thats where Syncopate shines the most.

The idea is to hold the board with counters until you can resolve Wilderness, from there on you start chopping chunks of life with Exp Exp... sometimes you can kill them on the spot but its better to draw 4 ping for 4 and hold counters in my experience.

Once you resolve Niv.. its just science... untap and win, if you happen to have EXP you are now dealing double +1 damage so things tend to end quite fast.

PS: Nighthawk how does Lazav work there? you copy the ooze?... with Biomancer.... that thing looks busted

Nothing too fancy, just a lot of mana and mass token spamming, with gaea's blessing to recycle your answers. A nightmare for slow decks to play against. Not drawing wilderness reclamation really slows it down though.

Thx for this, i was looking for Soorani's sultai control sideboard since he made the decktech. Reclamation control should be fun, but he didn't have a very exciting record.
