So, we've got the 1st two spoilers for Guilds of Ravnica. The convoke wurm seems meh without trample. The black revive spell is kinda expensive at 5cmc for aggro, but if we get some sac combo strategy, it might turn out nice. http://www.Mythicspoiler.com for the cards |

Interested to see what kind of power level they’ll give the Jump Start cards. Besides it and maybe Undergrowth though, the mechanics of the set look pretty underwhelming. |

Convoke is back. I can see the saprolings deck dropping that 16/16 indestructible without breaking a sweat, but... Vraska's contempt will still be a thing as are seal away, ixalan's binding, etc... The black card is interesting, but mostly for limited I think. Black is going to lose some of its premium 1 drops, but I guess it has it's uses to recover from a sweeper for example. |

Well, we don’t know the complimentary cards, but if we get some kind of self-mill strategy for Golgari with cards like Satyr Wayfinder and ETB, it might be useful. |

The promos got leaked though they're hard to see, I guess that revive is one of them though. Anyway these are the mechanics by the way from a few days ago: They're in the order of Selesnya, Boros, Dimir, Izzet and Golgari. Also PAX is happening and some early previews will start coming out soon. |

Convoke and Jump-start are both guaranteed to be powerful. Expect Undergrowth to be solid and broken in nonstandard formats. |

Am I the only one who loves Surveil? That's basically Scry with upside and works well with Jumpstart and other graveyard shenanigans. Speaking of Jumpstart, I'm not sure how high I'm on it right now. It's basically Flashback for the spell's original cost plus a discard - granted Flashback is busted, but I fear Jumpstart might be "only" good. Undergrowth I can say the least about, but so far the mechanic smells like Limited and Commander to me; Standard and Modern seem too fast for it and in Legacy Dredge and Reanimator (which might be the only decks remotely interested in the cards) will have to find a way to cast Undergrowth spells... I'll hold my final judgment but so far it's the mechanic I'm the lowest on. |

And Jumpstart turns your graveyard into a toolbox. It is going to be stupid powerful. In a vacuum, its the strongest mechanic. Surveil is decent and combos well with Undergrowth and Jumpstart, so it will see play as an enabler. Works well with Search for Azcanta, too. Bit generic tho. Mentor sucks. |

Mentor is ridiculously situational. Mentor creature better have 6 power or something. They both need to be attacking AND the creature needs less power for it to work. |

Yeah, the mechanic sucks. It just needs to be on super efficient creature to be playable, and even they are borderline vanilla creatures. |

Jump start sounds sweet, it does not provide card advantage but as a supported mechanic and not a single spell it has lot of potential |

After seeing the first 18 or so cards, here's my take on the mechanics... Convoke is convoke. Powerful but sweepers are a thing, so are exile card effects. Don't think this will make a huge splash initially. Mentor looks by far to be the weakest of all of them but if mentor triggers can be put on the stack and still apply it looks better. The first 2 Mentor creatures either make a creature each turn or can self-pump, so the support looks to be there. Surveil is pretty busted. Nothing past Surveil 1 currently spoiled, but we should see some Surveil 2 and Surveil 3 cards. Looks like there is some support for it as well; one of the creatures spoiled gets put into play if put into the graveyard from the library. Hopefully there is more support. Surveil also helps enable the next 2 mechanics. Jump-Start looks like it could be good...just depends on the cards it is on. The only spoiled card I've seen to date is pretty meh. Overgrowth looks like a solid mechanic. Have to see more cards to be sure as only 1 card has been spoiled so far, a cheap removal spell that is horrible in the early game. Golgari is a deck that gets better over time it seems. Overall, I like the set mechanics. It will be nice to get out of this stagnant meta. |

Mentor could be awesome in monored aggro. Imagine a mentor pumping all your weenies. I like. |

Thought Erasure is ridiculous. |

Between Thought Erasure, Bolas, and support from Dimir and Izzet sets, I'm definitely going Grixis Control. Wish Ral didn't suck. |

Looks like there are going to be some sweet cards in the new set. Got to agree mentor looks meh, I guess it'll be the "let's neuter red" set... Izzet and dimir are looking good though. I like the Walker even though he is just a nerfed Chandra. |
