I stopped playing after the 1st wipe as the economy and grind were really slow. So my question is - is it worth to come back - will I have fun as a f2p player and can I construct a winning deck easily? Thanks for the help :-) |

So my question is - is it worth to come back - will I have fun as a f2p player and can I construct a winning deck easily? Thanks for the help :-) I've been entirely free to play as I want to see how well it works. It's not great, but if you can post decent draft results it's not terrible either. So far I have one fully t1 deck (+a half dozen substitute card sets depending) and 4 decks that are competitive but not fully tricked out (my UW is missing 2 history and 1 lyra in sideboard, my r/b is missing some soul scar mages but I'm not playing this at all, my UB control or midrange is missing some sideboard cards, my esper control is missing some lands). I don't play much more than 2 times a week now, though I did put some hours in earlier on. Gaining cards is pretty slow but it's not awful. You can start out with a pretty strong red deck (they give you a lot of the needed cards) or a UW control deck (again they give you hulks and one of the precons gives more stuff). You could probably be competitive within the first week if you went with one of those two decks. Is it worth starting now or waiting for the last wipe? I can't answer that for you, though it's one of the reasons I'm not playing much outside of a few drafts. |

I suppose if you like constructed, an okay-ish red deck is not hard to make. However given that it's going to get wiped anyway, why bother? I'm only playing because of draft. |

Ah, I forgot, that there’s draft available now! I think I’ll try it out, as it probably won’t require as much commitment as constructed. Thanks once again :-) |

I put 100$ a while ago, only because it should speed up aquisition after the wipe (they'll return the gems), but I don't intend to spend any more. Like I've said before, I excluded green in general and for the most part, have most of the playable cards in the pool from the other colours. The new WC wheel is nice because you have a notion of how long it will take to get the cards you need. For example, I wanted 4 gilded lotuses. I had 0. I got 1 random rare WC, another from the wheel and happened to have 6k gold to get another by opening packs, so I went for it, got another random rare WC and now I have 4 lotuses. Right now, I'm having fun with jank, so blowing WCs on dubious cards is fine. Standard meta is at a point were people are looking for the next big thing after rotation. Sure, that'll only be answered when the new set arrives and kaladesh and amonkhet are gone, but there is room for brewing ATM. I don't play everyday, but that's fine too because most of the gold comes from quests you can do every 2 or 3 days anyway. Also, the new player experience has some pre-built decks you can unlock by doing some quests and they have some playable cards (including dual lands), which is a pleasant help in building a collection. Worth playing? I guess so, it's probably the best online mtg experience you can get and it's certainly entertaining enough. |

I put $100 on the game, spent about $50 of that on packs, and I'm just burning through the rest on draft. They say it'll get reimbursed as gems when it wipes, so I didn't see any big downside. |

I'm not big on Standard. I'm a more casual, social player. That being said I still play a few times a week and have fun doing it. I enjoyed Singleton very much and am in the middle of my first Draft which is turning out to be fun. All said I haven't spent a dime, still have like 16,000 coins and have around three or for competitive if not a little janky decks. All in all I'm kind of enjoying myself despite all the features I want not being there. Still don't like playing games on a pc though |

5 games, 5 on the draw... feeling nostalgic. |

Been away for the past few weeks. In some ways I have not missed it which probably tells a tale. I had planned to go back to explore the new modes. I have been totally free but did manage to put some reasonable decks together. Though with a lot of RDW wins in the main it was a case if you can’t beat them, join them. Also not a fan of the long grindy games that can be the case with control. Mana can also be an issue so whereas most fun deck was a Grixis Bolas deck arguably the mana at times created an issue. Have for that reason tried a lot of mono colour decks with probably mono green being a favourite. SD |

I had some leftover rare and mythic wildcards + some good red, so I just constructed an mtgtop8 RDW (miss the lands and a few minor cards) and it's been a blast. I wish I could build some more decks, but the RDW provides a lot of fun. |

Ohhh when we got Ramunap ruins that deck was absolutely unbeatable, that thing could deal 20 points of damage to the face just on the mana base. |
