This could actually go anywhere at NGA I just put it here with the game I'm involved with at the moment.
Rights have been sold for a MTG blockbuster movie in the past few years and about the past 6 or 7 months I've been devouring the lore novels.
My question is, what do you think they should concentrate the movies on? And I mean more than one. You know it will be a trilogy.
Sure it seems a given that if you could condense The Brother's War and concentrate more on Gerard, Sissay and the bunch and the defeat of the Phyrexians, that has all the keys for a big ass Hollywood movie.
I'm a little torn. While I would like to see that I think a condensed but true to canon version of the Otaria cycle could be real good too.
I'm however leaning to Ravnica.
It has all the elements of high fantasy, high drama, plenty for the special effects guys to go crazy on and it has likeable characters you can get behind like Kos, Teysa, Fonn, Feather, Crix, etc.
The Time Spiral cycle has the same elements with Tefari, Windgrace, Frayelise, etc.

I'm thinking my first idea about The Brother's/Phyrexia will end up winning out but I'm pushing for Ravnica
So far that is. Still have a few novels to read but by all accounts I've heard the writing really went down hill later, as shown in what they put up to pass for lore these days.

THey will definitely want to make it a series. Universal's decision to buy the movie rights to Hasbro properties was motivated by their desire to have more franchises.

I suspect they'll want to tie it with whatever Hasbro and WOTC are doing at the time the movie comes out, so it's pretty hard to say what it will be about. They're pretty keen on the Gatewatch.

With Universal being bought out by Disney now (with some parts being spun off as an independent company) I am a little worried. Anybody think that will have an impact?

Disney might actually be a good thing. God, I hope they don't try to do it from what every new sets they have at the time. The story lines I mentioned would be more than good weather in the game's past or not. ****, the first movie could be The Thran.

HBO/Netflix would be the way to go. Too much for a movir or 3...this would need seasons.

They didn't want movies based on Battleship or Rock'em Sock'em Robots either, but those happened.
