Ok so big update today, you can check the MTG arena forums but I made a summary for you lazy bastards: New Player Experience or NPE Yes, we are finally at the point where we would like to start getting feedback on our new player experience! As players move through the experience, they’ll learn more about how to play the game and unlock additional cards for their deck. Once complete, players will get a total of five preconstructed decks featuring Core Set 2019, one for each color. After that, they’ll get a quest chain that rewards a further ten dual-colored decks. In addition to the cards that players will get as a part of the preconstructed decks earnable through the New Player Experience, we’ll be giving each player three booster packs to start off, as well as four copies of the common dual-color lands. Languages Brazilian Portuguese, French, Italian, German, and Spanish are arriving in MTG Arena WILD CARDS and VAULT We are working on getting rid of the Vault and replacing it with something better, and this update has the first step. One piece of feedback that we wanted to address with this change was that many players felt that the Vault was really feast or famine. You basically only got the Wildcards you opened in your booster packs until you had done enough to open a Vault, where you get a burst of new ones. Starting with tomorrow’s update, rather than contributing to the Vault, opening a booster pack contributes to a new Wildcard track. This new Wildcard track opens every third booster pack and clearly indicates which Wildcard is the next one you’ll earn. These are in addition to Wildcards you may open in packs. The overall result is a slightly higher rate of Wildcard acquisition at a more steady pace, though the rate you will open them within packs has been lowered. The guaranteed drop rate in packs for Mythics and Rares are both every 30 packs, Uncommons every six, and Commons every five. Here's the Wildcard Track: We are still exploring options for what happens when a player opens their 5th copy of a card. We didn’t find an answer we liked for this update, so we left things like they are until we find something we do like and can remove the Vault entirely. Since we haven’t found a good solution yet, we are going to give every player a Vault’s worth of Wildcards. TurboCop -a guy from discord- made a simulation of opening 130 packs Ok here's the wildcard rate after 130 packs in the old model. Common 42 Uncommon 57 Rare 25 Mythic 10 And here's the wildcard rate after 130 packs in the new model Common 42 Uncommon 59 Rare 34 Mythic 10 The numbers come from a simulation of getting 130 packs, accounting for all sources of wildcards vault progress from dups, packs, the wheel, and natural drops So with the new model, they improved specifically the drop rate of rare wildcards Brewer’s Delight is our attempt to give players a little assistance in building off-meta decks. Event rewards are cards from a pre-selected pool of cards that we hope speak to those of you who like to take the path less traveled. Here’s everything you need to know: Brewer’s Delight Entry Fee: 250 gold or 50 gems Match Structure: Single-game matches Event Ends After: 3 wins or 3 losses (whichever comes first) The rewards players can earn come from one of three archetypes: Cats, Metalwork Colossus, and Treasure. New Event Schedule Best-of-Free Play Best of three will now be free to play Stress test on July 20 They will be giving codes to every active player to test the servers in a Half-Entry Core Set 2019 Quick Draft and a free to play Quick constructed event. End Turn has always had two modes. Clicking the End Turn button or hitting currently enter hard ends your turn no matter what your opponent does, and Shift-Enter ends your turn unless your opponent does something. With this update we’ve changed the End Turn button’s visuals and we’ve swapped the functionality. Hitting the button will now pass your turn unless your opponent acts and you can respond. Enter will now pass unless your opponent acts and you can respond. Shift-Enter will hard pass your turn no matter what now Original post here |

5 mythics in my first 15 M19 boosters, not a bad start. 2 Chromium, 1 Brolas, 1 Bone Dragon, 1 Arcades. Nothing to help out my turns or mono-G decks yet though, need me some Omenspeakers. |

I've been lazy about ever really trying this game, is it worth my effort? What is the barrier for entry if I have no collection? Does it have a card milling system? Could I generate a Tier 1 deck fairly quickly if I eschew all other cards to assemble it? |

They are trying a new player experience ATM, where they give you 5 mono-color decks to get you starting and as you complete quests you get dual color decks-that seems a bit better in power level- the decks are not bad for an entry point, but if you want to start at a higher level I recommend at least buying the 5 dollars once in a lifetime bundle to get some gems and speed things up a bit, I believe you should be able to build your first T1 deck in about a month F2P, maybe a bit less with the new wild cards system. This are the NPE decks: Graveyard Bash MONO BLACK

Dragons Fire MONO RED

Tactical Assault MONO WHITE

Forest Might MONO GREEN

Arcane Inventions MONO BLUE

Black Barney wrote: Let me know how you find it, counsel Not the deck but the game. Both seem decent. I did the $4.99 deal, which didn't get me much useful cards, but it does get you "wildcards" which let you grab yourself a whatever from that rarity. So I had 4 mythic rares, which got me the 2x Teferi and the 2x Lyra. I'm up to 4-1 with my loss resulting from not understanding I had to choose an opponent for Settle the Wreckage and just running out the timer. I assume difficulty raises with experience, because I'm mostly fighting tomato cans at this point. |

"Yes, we are finally at the point where we would like to start getting feedback on our new player experience!" This sums up the problems with the game right here. |

I’m still not sure what their end game with this product is going to be. Btw, are accounts cross platform, or not? I’m sure the information is out there, but basically, if I try this product on PC, will my account transfer to Mac or not. Even if they manage to get money out of me with this product, I absolutely WON’T pay for their product on multiple devices again. (I don’t care about cross platform play, just cross accounts) |

Their end goal is obvious. They want some of that sweet sweet Hearthstone money. Now whether they are going about it the right way.... -------------------------------------------------------------------- The new player feedback they are basically going to get is "Why are you forcing me to keep cards I will never use? I would rather dust them to get things I DO want." Or the more common "The economy sucks." |

There is no information on how cross-platform is going to work. Quite possible they don’t know it themselves yet. |

Make sense, since it’s only on one platform right now. /: Still I need to know before I put any money into it. |

Where's the resource that says they are going to port it to MAC? I'm not doubting it (seems like a standard thing to do). I'm just curious where the information is. |

Their public FAQ has the question that is basically "What platforms will the game be on?" The word for word answer is: "We're starting with PC only, but we've built MTG Arena on a flexible engine to expand to other platforms when it's ready." This is why I'm asking where they said they would port it to MAC. I would do the same for any other platform (IOS, consoles, etc). I'm not willing to make assumptions. |

Well, that’s part of the problem, tbh... if they said they would never port it, I might just bite the bullet and play it on PC (Using my Mac). If they say they will port it and cross platform accounts will exist, same result. Lack of clarity is keeping me from playing at this point - this game is too expensive. |

This game won't be *not* too expensive if it gets a MAC port. |

mjack33 wrote: This game won't be *not* too expensive if it gets a MAC port. Yeah, but at least I’ll be paying too much to play it on a device I actually own. |

You ever feel like it would be a bad idea to put money into the game even if it came out on MAC? |
